Calgary Police Cadet Corps Application Fostering leadership abilities, cultural tolerance and career development among Calgary s youth. Members of the Corps will define the potential and competence of youth. Developing skills socially, academically, and physically; producing an individual with confidence and respect. The result is an individual who leads their peers not only through actions and words, but also through their mere presence. Eligible youth are encouraged to apply. There is no cost to join the Calgary Police Cadet Corps. Uniforms and kit are provided. Potential credits for school through participation. To become a member of the Calgary Police Cadet Corps, you: Must be a youth between 12 and 18 years-of-age. Be of good moral character. Have no criminal record. Provide written parental/guardian consent. Complete an application for membership. Application Process 1. Complete Calgary Police Cadet Corps application form. (link) 2. A short essay (250 words or less) on why you would like to join the Police Cadet Corps. 3. Complete Calgary Police Service Waiver of Liability (print and sign). (link) 4. Complete Calgary Police Service Media Release Waiver (print and sign). (link) 5. Complete Calgary Police Service Security Clearance (print and sign). (link) 6. Copies of 2 pieces of identification (ie health care card, SIN Card, passport or drivers licence) 7. A photocopy of your most recent report card or transcript. 8. A letter of reference from your school (teacher, principal, etc. 9. CALGARY POLICE CADET CORPS Waiver of Liability, Release, Indemnification and Hold Harmless Agreement By signing this document, you will waive certain legal rights, including the right to sue. Please read carefully! THAT I, a parent/guardian of, a minor child, permit said minor child to participate in the Calgary Police Cadet Corps sponsored. Activities include, but are not limited to: physical exercise program, viewing, entering/exiting police facilities and vehicles and use of police equipment (air rifles and associated equipment, fitness apparatus, operational police equipment) during the period of. I recognize that these activities involve certain inherent dangers and do hereby agree to assume the risks attendant to such activities, including but not limited to: property damage and/or personal injury to said minor child, resulting from the acts of third parties whether caused by deliberate acts, errors, omissions, or negligent acts of said third parties; property damage and/or personal injury to said minor child resulting from said minor child's own activities, deliberate acts, errors, omissions or negligent acts; and property damage and/or personal injury to others resulting from said minor child's own activities, deliberate acts, errors, omissions or negligent acts. I hereby waive all claims, release, indemnify, defend and hold harmless the City of Calgary, the Calgary Police Service, the Calgary Chief of Police, and the Calgary Police Commission (hereinafter called Sponsors), in both their public and private capacities, from any and all liability, claims, suits, demands, expense of litigation, or causes of action which may arise by reason of injury to persons or loss of, damage to, or loss of use of any property occasioned by error, omission, or negligent act of said minor child or, any other persons with regard to this Agreement. I will, at my cost and expense, defend and protect the Sponsors against any and all such claims and demands.
