Ryburn Golf Club Tel; Halifax 831355 RULE BOOK RULES 1. Name The Club is called Ryburn Golf Club and the address is;- The Shaw, Norland, Sowerby Bridge HX6 3QP 2. Object The object of the Club is to promote the game of Golf and the social well-being and the general interests of its members. The Club is a non-profit making organisation. All profits and surpluses will be used to maintain or improve the Club s facilities. No profit or surplus will be distributed other than to another non-profit making body or to members on a winding up or dissolution of the Club. 3. Classes of Membership The classification of members shall be as follows;- Full Playing Ladies & Gentlemen Five Day Members Gentlemen Junior Members Boys and Girls Social Members Ladies & Gentlemen (with use of Club House only) After 20 years full membership male members at the age of 65 and female members at the age of 60 years will receive a fixed reduced fee of subscriptions set by the Committee. (Presently a reduction 240 with full membership rights) Due to restrictions placed on a 9 hole course it is necessary to allocate Thursday as the principle day for Ladies competition.

4a. Committee The affairs of the Club shall be managed by a Committee consisting of; The Captain, Vice Captain, President, Secretary, Membership Secretary, Treasurer, Rabbit Captain, Lady Captain & Competitions Secretary. All of whom shall be elected annually and six Full Playing members two of whom shall be elected annually to serve a period of three years. Past Captain ex-offico. 4b.If any member of the Committee shall die, or cease to be a Member of the Club, or shall refuse or become unfit to act or be incapable of acting on the Committee, the Committee shall have the power to elect a member of the Club to act on the Committee to serve the unexpired period of the vacancy. 4c.The Committee shall have the power to appoint from the Members of the Club (including themselves) Sub Committees. Make all other arrangements and appointments for the good governance and benefit of the Club, and to deal with any matters which may arise, and which are not provided for by these rules. 4d.At a Committee meeting eight members present shall form a quorum and at Sub Committee meetings two members present shall form a quorum. 5. Trustees The Committee shall have the power to appoint four members as General Trustees to be Trustees of the Club for the purpose of holding any investments, securities or property which the Committee may, from time to time, direct to be vested or purchased in the names of the Trustees who shall be entitled and authorised to act in all matters in connection therewith including the selling, mortgaging or changing of any of the Club s property and the payment to the Banking account of the Club or of the Committee of the proceeds of or in such sale mortgage or charge upon a copy of a resolution approved by the Chairman of the meeting at which the resolution was passed and countersigned by the Secretary and shall be indemnified and held free from all responsibility or liability in respect of all acts or things done pursuant to and in conformity with such copy resolution. 6. Power of Trustees The Trustees shall have the power to appoint any Bank or other Trust Corporation (either alone or jointly with any individual person or persons) to be Custodian Trustee of the legal estate of the land and premises known as Ryburn Golf Club at The Shaw, Norland, Sowerby Bridge and other investments, securities or property which the General Trustees may from time to time be vested or purchased in the name of the Custodian Trustee who shall be entitled and authorised to act in all matters in connection therewith including the selling, mortgaging or charging of any of the Club s property and the payment to the Banking account of the Club or to the General Trustees of the Club the proceeds of or in such a sale, mortgage or charge upon a copy of a resolution of the General Trustees signed by such Trustees and shall be indemnified and held free from all responsibility or liability in respect of all acts or things done pursuant to and in conformity with such resolution. Subject to any resolution, the General Trustees shall have the management of any freehold or leasehold property without the Custodian Trustee being responsible for any acts or omission in connection therewith

and the Custodian Trustee may arrange for the dividends or other income to be paid to the General Trustees or into a Bank Account in the name of the General Trustees or of the Club without seeing to the application thereof. Any Bank or Trust Corporation appointed as such Custodian Trustee shall be paid remunerations for so acting as may be from time to time agreed between it and the General Trustees and any Banks so appointed shall have the power to act by its proper Officer or Officers and also to act as Bankers of the Club for all purposes upon the terms issued between the Bank and the Customer and shall be entitled to any customary share of brokerage received by the Bank. 7. Subscriptions The Committee shall have the power to impose any entrance fee if and when deemed necessary. Subscriptions for the various classifications of members shall be decided at the Annual Subscription Meeting. The Subscriptions may be increased or reduced by resolution, notice of which shall be given by the Secretary to each member seven clear days before such annual meeting. Amendments will be subject to the majority of the members present. 7a. Any new member elected after the 1 st April shall pay Subscriptions which are reduced by one/twelfth per month of the Annual Subscription agreed at the A.G.M. this to commence from April 1 st right through to March 31 st. 7.b Any member whose Subscriptions shall be unpaid on the first day of April Shall, as from that date, cease to be a member of the Club unless the Committee shall in any case otherwise determine. 8. Election of Members. 8a. Election of members shall be in the hands of the Committee. The name of the candidate for membership duly proposed and seconded by two members of the Club shall be posted in the Clubhouse at least fourteen days before being brought before the Committee. A member will be elected by the majority decision of the Committee. 8b. When a new member is elected, he/she will be notified by the Membership Secretary, furnished with a copy of the Rules and requested to pay an Entrance Fee, if applicable, and Subscription. Payment of such Subscription shall be deemed an acquiescence to and thence to be subject to the Rules of the Club. 8c. New members must pay their Subscriptions within 28 days of being notified of their membership and in default of such payment his/her election shall be void. 9. Expulsion of Members In the case of conduct of any member in or out of the Club shall in the opinion of the Committee, be injurious to the character or interests of the Club, the Committee may expel such member from the Club providing seven days notice shall be given to such member stating the nature of the charge against him/her and giving notice of the intention to expel him/her. Such notice shall also give such member an opportunity of explanation or withdrawing from the Club and no such expulsion shall take place unless the fault for expulsion be agreed to by four-fifths of the Committee present at a meeting specifically summoned for the purpose and attended by at least half of the Committee at which such member shall have the opportunity to be heard.

10. Resignation of Members Any member so wishing can withdraw from the Club by giving before the expiry of the current year, notice in writing addressed to the Secretary of the Club of his/her intention to do so, otherwise he/she will be liable to pay his/her subscription for the ensuing year. 11. The Annual General Meeting of the Club shall be held each year in the Month of March. When a statement of accounts for the past financial year ending January 31 st shall be submitted. Seven days notice of the Annual General Meeting shall be given to every member of the Club. Thirty members present shall form a quorum. 11b. Any member desiring to bring a resolution before the Annual General Meeting shall place such resolution in the hands of the Secretary 4 weeks prior to the A.G.M 11c. All nomination for office must be made before January 31 st. 11d. Members are allowed a postal vote for the A.G.M. A form for voting to be sent with the notice for the A.G.M. 12. Extraordinary General Meeting 12a. Any General Meeting of the members of the Club may be called by the Secretary pursuant to a resolution by the Committee and each member shall be notified of the date, time and place, and the proposed business of such meeting, giving seven days notice of such meeting, 30 members present shall form a quorum. 12b. A General Meeting of the members may also be called by notice from the Secretary on the signed requisition of at least twenty members. Seven days notice of such a meeting, giving the date, time and place and proposed business shall be given. 12c. At all meetings, each full playing member shall have one vote on any question, the Chairman of the meeting shall have the casting vote in addition to his own. The voting shall be by ballot, if demanded by twenty or more members. 13. Amendments to or Creation of New Rules No new rule shall be made or an existing rule amended or rescinded except by a special resolution of an extraordinary general meeting as provided in rules 12a or 12b. 14. Club President The President may be nominated from any full playing member as a reward for services to the Club. A list of nominees will be put before the Ryburn Past Captains who will determine a single nomination prior to the A.G.M. for final approval by the members. The President will have full voting rights at the Committee meetings leaving the Club Captain with his vote and the casting vote if necessary. The President shall serve for one year, but a successor shall be nominated to fill the office in the event of the President s failure to complete his term. The President will not be allowed to hold a competition. A President s car parking facility will be provided. 15. Secretary s Duties It shall be the duty of the Secretary to call meetings, attend such meetings and record the names of members present at the Committee meetings and the minutes of their proceedings; of any general meetings of the members. Such minutes shall be authenticated by the signature of the Chairman at the meeting at which they are

confirmed. The Secretary shall conduct the correspondence of the Club, carry out the Rules of the Club for the time being, and any laws in force affecting the Club and exercise a general supervision. 16. Treasurer s Duties It shall be the duty of the Treasurer to keep a true account in books provided by the Club, of all monies received and expended on behalf of the Club, and to produce all books and all accounts and vouchers, on request, to the Committee and to comply with the requirements of the Auditors. 17. Auditors The Auditors shall be appointed at the A.G.M. each year. 18. Club Funds All monies belonging to the Club shall be deposited with the Bankers in the name of the Club. All withdrawals shall be made by signatories appointed by the Club Committee from time to time. 19. Green Fees Any Visitor may be allowed to play round the course on six days only in one year. Such Visitors introduced by a member or not, must enter his/her name in the visitors book with the date of admission and any fees paid. Junior members are not allowed to introduce visitors. Members may only sign in one visitor per day. 20. Competitions Only full playing members and junior members will be eligible for Club Competitions, subject to any handicap limitations which the Committee may from time to time impose. No full playing member whose subscription is outstanding is eligible to enter a Club Competition. Junior members must have permission of the Competitions Committee before they may enter any Club Competition. The Committee reserve the right to close the course at any time. 21. Capital Expenditure Capital expenditure authorised by the Committee not to exceed 25% of the total subscriptions of the members, in any one year. The Committee shall have power to allocate a sum of money for Captain s expenses. A. Junior Members: Persons under the age of 15 years joining as a Junior Member must have a Parent or Guardian as a member. B. All activities of the Junior Section must be ratified by the Club Captain, Club Secretary or the Club Official in charge of Juniors. C. Junior Members, 17 years and under, may not enter the main Club rooms apart from the locker room unless accompanied by an adult member or parent. D. Junior members, not having a handicap of 18 or less, will not be permitted to play the course after 6.30 p.m. on weekdays or until 5 p.m. on Sundays unless accompanied by a full playing member. Junior members will not be allowed to play on Saturdays unless accompanied by a full playing member. E. Junior team matches will be allowed during the week providing that no other Club Competitions are in progress. Dates of all Junior Competitions will be ratified by the Committee. F. Junior Members, 17 years and under, will not be allowed bar facilities unless accompanied by an adult member. G. Junior s will not be allowed to play the fruit machines under any circumstance.

H. No Junior member may sign in a visitor. RULES OF THE CLUB HOUSE 1. Shoes or dress must be changed in the dressing rooms only. Golf Clubs and equipment must not be left in the ground floor area of the Club House under any circumstance. 2. No paper, notice or placard (written or printed) shall be put in the Club House without the sanction of the Secretary. 3. No dogs shall be allowed in the Public Rooms of the Club House or on the Course. 4. Members are required to pay every expense they incur in the Club House before leaving it. 5. No member shall take away from the Club House upon any pretence whatsoever, any newspaper, pamphlet, or other article the property of the Club. Any loss or damage to the Club s property shall be made good at the expense of the person or persons causing such loss or damage. 6. Any visitor who has paid the Green Fee and whose name has been inserted in the Visitor s Book, is entitled to all privileges of the Club for the period that he/she is introduced, and can order and pay for any refreshments he/she may wish and is bound by the Rules of the Club, as though he/she was an actual member. 7. All visitors of the Club House must be signed in. 8. The hours of selling intoxicating drinks shall be in accordance with the licence granted to the Club. 9. Subject to any restrictions which may be imposed from time to time by the Committee, the following persons may be entitled to admission to the Club premises and to purchase intoxicating liquor for consumption on the premises. a) Golfers on payment of the appropriate competition entrance fee or Green Fee. b) Members of the Club teams or other organisations taking part in matches or competitions and supporting members of the Clubs and organisations present in connection with those matches or competitions. c) Persons attending social functions approved by the Committee and at the invitation of members.

10. Members and Visitors shall conform to regulations with regard to dress as determined from time to time by the Committee. DO S & DON TS DO replace all divots DON T move, talk or stand close to or directly behind the ball or the hole when a player is making a shot. DO fill up holes in bunkers. DON T play until the part in front is out of range. DO allow other players through if you are playing slower than they are. DON T continue to play after waving people through until they are clear and out of range. DON T take caddy cars on the greens or tees DON T wear spikes shoes in the Club House DON T waste time on the putting greens when the result of the hole has been determined.
