Los Angeles Model Railroad Society Minutes of the November 7, 2017 Business Meeting Meeting was called to order at 7:30 p.m. by Derek Griffin President A quorum was present for this meeting; ATTENDEES: L. A. Roe Marv White Dave Holmes Ira Abramowitz Lloyd Lehrer Derek Griffin Ron Varnell Rick Reed Marty Bradley James Jackman Tony Gorka Mike Artner Peter Nagy SECRETARY S REPORT The secretary read the minutes of the October 3, 2017 business meeting, minutes were read and accepted. TREASURER S REPORT by Dave Holmes Cash flow in October. Our Income was $ 1686.66. Our expenses were $ 1732.20. Our net income was a decrease of $45.54. The cash and financial assets for October are as follows: Our available Cash $ 120.783.39. Receivables were $ 335.00. Investments were $ 23,713.87 Total assets for September were $144,858.69 Total Assets for October were $ 144,32.26. TOTAL NET DECREASE OF $26.43 IN SEPTEMBER 1 st VICE PRESIDENT S REPORT By Tony Gorka Tony reported that he was at the layout on one of the work nights in October as well as Lloyd, Rick and Marty they cleaned up the major issues from the white board, discovered a problem in Harbor East which was corrected by switching out a PM42. L.A. had nothing to report on the narrow gauge. 2 nd VICE PRESIDENT S REPORT by Marty Bradley Marty reported that on October 29 th we had a good operation. Lloyd will host the narrow gauge operation on November 19 th Derek stated that he had talked with Mike Artner about taking charge of the Christmas open house. Ron Varnell stated that we need a flyer for the display at the Torrance library

PRESIDENT S REPORT by Derek Griffin Derek read a letter to the membership from the new property management firm that will be handling all matters for the owners. Lloyd and Mike Artner happened to be here when both property management reps. toured the property. Derek has received the cost for the termite remediation and has forwarded it to the old property management firm; he will make contact with the new firm and advise them of the cost to handle the termites. Rolling Stock Committee by Harry Bragg Media Committee by Max Lizarde Max reported via an e-mail to Derek stating that he and the rest of the committee have been evaluating areas of the layout to use for the picture and video. At the present time all of the locations have been determined as well as locomotives and other stock. Over the next few months we will prepare all that is necessary. If any members have photos and or video s that you would be willing to share please send them to lamrsmedia@gmail.com. Max reported that our Facebook and utube sites are doing very well. Fund Raising Committee by Mike Artner Web Committee Jim Bright Electrical Committee Marv White/ Lloyd Lehrer Marv found a bunch of tubes and one fixture that he didn t know we had so we are in good shape. Standards & Rules Committee by Mike Haasis Mike will be out of commission for a time. Other committee members are still working on their portions of this project. DCC Committee Lloyd Lehrer/Ira Abramowitz The new laptop seems to be working well. Ira is still working on the problem in Alamosa. He has been frustrated with Digital.

BUSINESS MEETING. YOU ARE PERMITTED TO GET A NEW BALLOT BY BRINGING YOUR BALLOT TO THE DEC. BUSINESS MEETING AND PRESENTING IT TO THE SECRETARY AND REQUESTING A NEW BALLOT. Old Business None New Business Ira moved that we purchase two diesel decoders and two speakers not to exceed $250.00 motion seconded by James Jackman motion passed. There was a considerable amount of discussion regarding a backup for the Treasures position to have Eric Bloomer act in that position.
