THEME OF THE CONFERENCE CHANGING SCENARIO OF TOURISM IN THE ERA OF GLOBALISATION : ISSUES AND CONCERNS Tourism worldwide serves as an important employment generator, source of foreign exchange and economic growth. Richly endowed with unique culture, nature, heritage lively markets, traditional hospitality, India has myriad opportunities in the tourism sector. The need is to serve it in an attractive manner to the consumer. Tourism industry in any country flourishes on the basis of competitiveness of facilities like infrastructure, accommodation, transport and recreation. Natural landscapes, historical monuments, heritage and vast diversity in terms of resplendent colours, culture, cuisine, pilgrimage all have immense tourism potential. In the recent past even education and medical tourism, adventure, rural and ecotourism have added newer dimensions to Indian tourism industry. Not just international, domestic tourism has also grown in leaps and bounds. As per the latest data available, tourism in India has shown a phenomenal growth in the past decade contributing 6.8 per cent to India s GDP. Tourism industry, with its allied sectors, offers widest range of commercial activities like transportation, accommodation and catering, tour packages, entertainment etc. for venturing into business and entrepreneurship. Identifying innovative and unconventional tourist places, promotion of destinations yet unexplored, hold the key for successful entrepreneurship and sustenance of tourism in India. Tourism has tremendous potentialities. Tourism industry has the potential to change lives and affect their livelihood in different ways. The industry however, needs to grow carefully and in a

sustainable manner. The future of tourism in India is certainly bright but we do have a long road ahead. At this juncture, in order to identify challenges as well as potentialities of tourism sector, the need to organise an International Conference on the topic Changing Scenario of Tourism in the Era of Globalisation : Issues and Concerns is felt. Against this backdrop, the scheduled Conference will address the various facets of Tourism Sector dividing into under-mentioned sub-themes: Socio-economic Impact of Tourism Government Policy Towards Tourism Development Economics of Indian Tourism Industry Growth and Development of Modern Tourism Tourism Marketing Future of Tourism in India New Dimensions of Tourism Tourism and Sustainability Bihar As a Tourist Destination Role of NGOs in Tourism Promotion Development of Tourism Infrastructure Employment Generation Through Tourism Prospects of Tourism Industry in Mithilanchal Human Resource Management in Tourism Sector Note : This is an indicative list. Researchers/Authors can choose any other topic which is not listed above, but is relevant to the Conference theme.

ABOUT THE PLACE A supreme seat of learning and philosophy since time immemorial, Mithila occupies a unique place in the history of India. Surrounded by the Himalayas in the north, Gandak in the west, Ganges in the south and Kosi in the east, Mithila is a place of Philosophers, Astrologers, Grammarians and scholars of Dharmshastra and Literatures. Known as the land of Mahakavi Vidyapati, Darbhanga is recognized for its cultural and academic flavour. Darbhanga is also known as "Gate-way-of Bengal", linked with Dalavya; a disciple of sage Yagyavalkaya, a place considered suitable for worship preferred by Prajapati to remove the psychophobia of general masses. Darbhanga, an old city and a divisional headquarters of modern Bihar is well connected with rail and road services. Coiling a long history, this city has tremendous opportunities for the development of cultural tourism, heritage tourism, pilgrimage tourism, eco-tourism, rural tourism and medical tourism. Potentially good, the city and the people of Darbhanga expect the attention of the policy makers of the government. ABOUT THE UNIVERSITY Mithila University with its headquarters at Darbhanga was established by an ordinance in 1972. After the sad demise of Pt. Lalit Narayan Mishra in January, 1975, the Mithila University was renamed as Lalit Narayan Mithila University. At present, has 43 constituent colleges and 21 University Departments. The University, accredited by NAAC (2 nd Cycle) offers a variety of academic programmes of conventional and modern areas of higher education and research. ABOUT THE DEPARTMENT The University Department of Commerce and is a pioneering institution in Bihar. The Post Graduate teaching in Commerce was started long back in 1963. Later, the Department started MBA Programme in 1991. The Department over the years has carved out a distinct place for itself in the galaxy of Commerce and Management Institutions. The Department has the credibility of hosting All India Commerce Conference of ICA twice; first in 1984 and second in 1998. Besides, in past a couple of years, the Department has organized many national level gatherings including National Workshop on Management of Universities. In the year 2017, the Department organized International Conference on Emerging Entrepreneurial Scenario in India.

CALL FOR PAPERS Researchers, Academicians, Entrepreneurs, Industry Professionals, Faculty Members and Students in the fields of various areas of Management, Commerce, Economics, Sociology, Psychology etc. are cordially invited to contribute with his/her paper and participate in the International Conference. Papers are invited on the themes of the Conference. Paper presenters should respect to the guidelines mentioned hereunder. GUIDELINES FOR PAPER PRESENTERS Research papers submitted for presentation must be original, unpublished and not under consideration for publication elsewhere. The text should be double-spaced throughout and with a minimum of 3 cm for left and right hand margins and 5 cm at head and foot. Text should be in Times New Roman 12 point. Abstract should be in 200 to 250 words. The last day for receipt of abstracts is 25 th November 2018. Full papers of accepted abstracts in APA format may be submitted on or before 30 th November, 2018. Both the abstract and the full paper should be sent by e-mail to mbalnmu@gmail.com in MS Word Format only. Selected research papers presented during the Conference may be published as an edited volume with ISBN Number. However, the decision of the Editorial Board will be final for selection of the papers to be published.
