Page 3 The Lion s Roar March 2015 A Not to Be Missed Program Camp Leo for Kids with Diabetes Jennifer Leichtman will present a powerpoint program about Camp Leo at our March 23rd meeting. Following are excerpts about the camp from The Busy B News February 2015 front page story by Theresa Klassen, Executive Director of Camp Leo. Camp Leo provides a welcome oasis each summer where children and teens with diabetes can feel safe, have fun, and share their experience of living with diabetes with other children and adults who are just like them. Camp Leo is the ONLY overnight summer camp in Western Washington exclusively dedicated to serving children with Type 1 Diabetes. The counselors all have diabetes and act as role models for the campers, and the huge medical staff includes 24-hour onsite doctors, nurses, dietitians, pharmacists, and diabetes educators. Last year alone, almost 40% of our campers came from District B. Camp Leo is seeking Lions Clubs to sponsor a camper or to volunteer at camp for children from District B. Jennifer will explain in her March 23rd presentation details about the program and how we may be of help. To read more about Camp Leo and view colorful pictures taken during the camp, see the February 2015 Busy B News front page story Camp Leo Kids with Diabetes. Page 4 The Lion s Roar March 2015 A group of happy Edmonds Lions enjoy the 11th annual Busy B auction March 7 at the Lake City Community Center. The auction raised over $7000. Congratulatory handshakes abound at the February 23rd presentation of two Melvin Jones Fellowships.
Page 5 The Lion s Roar March 2015 Bringing in the Flags STEVE The flags that line the streets of Edmonds on nine holidays during the year are the result of the hard work of a dedicated group of Edmonds Lions and friends. Using their own trucks and starting early in the morning, they load 310 flags and post them at designated locations in downtown Edmonds. At the end of the day, they reverse the routine. These photos show the flags being returned on MLK Day to their temporary storage location, the Lions still smiling and enthusiastic after a long day. Some had a Club board meeting to attend that evening. A BIG THANK YOU JIM TOM ROY CHARLES BOBBY

Lions Bobby Mills and Bill Baker set the base for the pole a few weeks ago. The final tasks are to place the pole, install a light, and raise the flag.
