ABOUT US The was established in Rome in 2011. It grew out from a common intuition of the President Alessandro Minuto-Rizzo and the NATO Defense College top decision makers who understood the value of a non-profit NGO that could work beyond usual and institutional outreach, training, communication and scientific research activities The Foundation is a unique combination of scientific freedom, private agility and institutional linkage. It builds upon the top level connections and operational experience in the Trans- Atlantic outreach towards the Middle East, Eastern Europe, Southern Mediterranean and West Asia Our scientific research consists of several activities: Strategic Trends, Food for Thought, Papers, International conferences, High-level seminars, Advisory panels, High-level training

The European Perspective The EU is a unique and essential partner for NATO. The two organisations share a majority of members, and all members of both organisations share common values (Strategic Concept 2010) The EU and NATO are already working together on a wide array of important issues: hybrid warfare, defence industry, wide-area security issues (Ukraine, Balkans, Georgia, Sahel, piracy, trafficking), Smart Defence and pooling/sharing, an effective maritime strategy and the comprehensive approach in crisis management The Foundation has a solid expertise on European hi-tech, defence and hard/soft security matters
