Regular Board of Education Meeting April 19, 2017 A regular meeting of the Board of Education of the Eastport-South Manor Central School District, Suffolk County, New York, was held in the Board Room, Eastport-South Manor Junior-Senior High School, Manorville, New York on April 19, 2017. FINANCES 2017/2018 Spending Plan MOTION made by Marie Brown, seconded by Ginny Churchin for the Board to adopt the following resolution: WHEREAS, the Interim Superintendent has presented his recommendation for the 2017/2018 Spending Plan in the amount of $92,922,780.00 to the Eastport-South Manor Central School District Board of Education, and WHEREAS, the Eastport-South Manor Central School District Board of Education has received the Interim Superintendent s recommendation and concurs with this recommendation, NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the 2017/2018 Spending Plan in the amount of $92,922,780.00, be submitted to the voters on May 16, 2017, AND, FURTHER, BE IT RESOLVED, pursuant to the Commissioner s Regulations that the Board of Education approve the Property Tax Report Card to be reported to the State Education Department and made available to the district residents. REPORT/ANNOUNCEMENTS Congratulations to the Dayton Avenue 3 rd grade teachers and students who will be recognized at a ceremony on May 5 th as recipients of the 37 th Annual Town of Brookhaven Youth Volunteer Award for the Humble and Kind Campaign. Newsday will also feature them in an upcoming article. On April 7 th, a group of seniors attended the Long Island Youth Summit at St. Joseph s College which brings together business leaders and government officials to discuss topics of importance to Long Island. Steven Silvestri was awarded top honors for his project on the Impact of Social Media and Luke Staufenberg received top honors for his project on the Future of the Long Island Economy.
