AGENDA AND MINUTES RECOMMENDATIONS 11-14-2278 ADOPTION OF AGENDA It is recommended that the agenda for the November 14, 2016 meeting be approved as presented with additions, corrections, or deletions as recommended by the Board. BP 11-14-2279 APPROVAL OF MINUTES It is recommended that the minutes from the October 17, 2016 Board meetings be approved as presented. 11-14-2280 APPROVAL OF CLAIMS It is recommended that the claims, numbers 7494 through 6191 be approved as presented. 11-14-2281 PARTICIPATION AT SCHOOL BOARD MEETINGS The Board recognizes the value of public comment on educational issues and the importance of allowing members of the public to express concerns regarding agenda items. To permit fair and orderly public expression, the Board will provide a period for public comments at regular public meetings of the Board on meeting agenda items only. The presiding officer of each Board meeting at which public participation is permitted shall administer the procedures of the Board for its conduct. Comments will be limited to Board meeting agenda items with a time limit of 3-5 minutes. The presiding officer shall be guided by the following rules: A. Public participation shall only be allowed during the time of public comments on the agenda. B. Participants must be recognized by the presiding officer and must preface their comments by an announcement of their name, address, group affiliation and which agenda item they wish to address. C. All statements shall be directed to the presiding officer; no person may address or question Board members individually. D. The presiding officer shall: a. Interrupt, warn or terminate a person s statement when the statement is a complaint against any employee, or is too lengthy, personally directed, abusive, obscene, or irrelevant. b. Request any individual to leave the meeting when that person does not observe reasonable decorum; c. Request the assistance of law enforcement officers in the removal of a disorderly person when that persons conduct interferes with the orderly progress of the meeting; d. Call for a recess or an adjournment to another time when the lack of public decorum so interferes with the orderly conduct of the meeting as to warrant such action; Waive these rules with the approval of the Board when necessary for the protection of privacy, rights of any Board member or employee, or the administration of the Board s business. E. A Board meeting is a meeting in public, not a public meeting.
RESIGNATION 11-14-2282 Middle School Motion to approve the resignation of Marianne Inman as Middle School Secretary effective November 14, 2016. EMPLOYMENT 11-14-2283 High School Motion to approve the hiring of Marianne Inman for the High School Guidance Secretary/Athletics Secretary position effective November 14, 2016. RC 11-14-2284 High School ECA Coach Motion to approve the hiring of Nathan Mack as volunteer assistant boys basketball coach for the 2016-2017 season.
CORPORATION 11-14-2285 School Calendar Motion to approve the School Calendar for 2017-2018 as presented. The calendar has been reviewed by the EGTO and our school administrators. BP 11-14-2286 LATE ITEMS EMPLOYMENT 11-14-2286-1 Middle School Motion to approve the employment of Amy Rogers as Middle School Office Assistant effective November 28, 2016. This is a school year position at 28 hours per week. BP 11-14-2286-2 Middle School Band Motion to approve the hiring of Tai Mikulecky and Jackson McLellan for music instruction. These individuals will be paid from the Middle School Band ECA account.
11-14-2287 DISCUSSION ITEMS Sharon Abts We just finished the Veterans Day Programs in all three schools. We finalized the parent-teacher conferences with a turnout rate of 96%. We absolutely loved the Thunderbird Pride March provided by our football team. Dennis Massengill We just completed our Halloween dance and dodgeball tournament as fundraisers for our DC trip. We are also getting ready for our 5 th and 6 th grade COGAT tests. Doug Lewis Everybody seems to be settled back into a normal classroom routine. We have been busy working with IVY Tech in our bio-tech classroom collaboration. Our high school orchestra had a very nice concert last week. Members of our boys and girls cross country teams qualified for semi state competition. Our football team had a great run with their first ever sectional win. We hosted 1,200 people at the regional football game here last Friday night. It is great to see the community get so involved with the football team now. Girls basketball has already started with a 1-1 record. The Boys basketball begins with their scrimmage against Ellettsville this Thursday evening. Check out the Thunderbird feed tab on our High School website. Ted Baechtold I just want to thank everyone involved in hosting 1,200 people here for the football regional. Jon Neill, Doug Lewis, and many others were very instrumental in making it a very good night.
