PADRE PIO NEWSLETTER Message from the Faithful Navigator Tim Pettit FN Tim Pettit Sir Knights, The next few months coming up are going to be busy as we have several functions that need to be attended to. 1. The Flag Retirement ceremony in September (date TBD). Will need some Color Guard members with the boy scouts and someone to see if the VFW members can assist. 2. The VFW dinner in November will need some assistance. 3. The Assembly meet for the rosary at Ft. Logan on Veterans day November 11. 4. Last month the PFN Art Hinkel asked for SK to help out at the new VA hospital. They are still looking for volunteers to help. Please give some thought and consideration to help. Vivat Jesus Tim Pettit Notice Faithful Comptroller Ken Sharp has submitted his resignation due to health concerns. We need to find a replacement within the next few months so we can elect, bond, and have the new Comptroller fully on board by December. The primary responsibilities of the Comptroller are the billing and collection of dues, reconciliation of income and disbursements with the Faithful Purser, annual audit, and maintenance of membership records. The Faithful Comptroller is entitled to a fee of 8% of dues received. Knights of Columbus St Padre Pio Assembly #2813 Meeting Minutes July 11, 2018 CALL TO ORDER: Faithful Navigator Tim Pettit called the meeting to order at 7:30 PM following the rosary and a talk by Seminarian Tom Scherer on his journey to the Priesthood. There were 22 attendees. Approval of minutes: The 6/6/18 minutes were approved as submitted. Faithful Friar s Report: No report Faithful Navigator s Report: FN Tim Pettit welcomed the new officers. There were no new membership applications read. Faithful Purser s Report: Purser Raymond Durbala reported June income of $2185.00 and expenses of $769.72 from our 4 th Degree Exemplification. Balance on 6/30/18 is $5,622.77. A summary of income and expenses from the 2018 Exemplification is attached. The net profit of $1493 was down $632 from 2017 due to lower attendance. Faithful Comptroller s Report: Comptroller Ken Sharp reported 148 on our roster not counting the 4 new members from our 6/30/18 Exemplification. Committee Reports: Membership: We have four new Assembly members who completed their 4 th Degree at our June 30 Exemplification: Duke Hogan, Larry Hudson, Harry McKaig, Bill Mumma. Unfortunately several other candidates weren t available due to schedule conflicts with it being the weekend before the 4 th of July. Next year we are scheduled for June 15 so hopefully there won t be as many conflicts. Fourth Degrees scheduled in the Denver area before then are 10/6/18 Mother Seaton Assembly at All Saints and 2/23/19 Assembly 1966 in Northglenn.
We are working to get as many 1 st Degree members through the 2 nd and 3 rd Degrees so they will be eligible to join the 4 th Degree. The next stand-alone 3 rd Degree is 8/16 at Pax Christi. The schedule for combined 2 nd /3 rd Degrees for this FY is not yet announced. Widows and Sick/Distressed: no report Social: No social planned for July. Unfinished Business: Our flag retirement ceremony is now scheduled for the labor day weekend and Chris Kaiser is lining up the Boy Scouts Help. Trustees Report: No report New Business: Tony Schaffhauser read the budget resolution below amending the FY 2018-19 budget to extend the Assembly s $200 rebate on new Regalia for current CC members and including the rebate for new CC members. The funds for this extended rebate will be allocated from the Assembly cash reserves. Discussion and a vote on this resolution will be at the Aug 1 meeting. Art Hinkel suggested that we consider a donation to the Wounded Warriors organization as an additional patriotic activity. FN Pettit encouraged all to participate in the Respect Life 5K run/walk at Light of the World on 7/21. Frank McGinley is organizing a team of Knights and wives. Third Degree Reports: Council 9349: No report Council 7640: Installation of Officers July 12 Color Corps Report: no report District Marshall Report: no report Good of the Order: Names on the Sick and Distressed list were read and are attached. Please pray for them. Substitute Lector Raymond Durbala will provide pizza and drinks. Closing Ceremonies: Closing ceremonies were led by the Faithful Navigator. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20 PM. Padre Pio Assembly #2813 Budget Resolution, July 11, 2018 In order to encourage a viable Color Guard for Padre Pio Assembly #2813, we do hereby resolve to extend through FY 2018-2019 the offer of a $200 rebate to help offset the burdensome expense of purchasing new regalia for new and existing members of the Color Corps who make the large investment of money and time to be in our Color Corps. It being understood however, that to the new regalia must be ordered and the receipt of purchase presented to the Faithful Purser or Faithful Navigator by Jun 30, 2019 in order to collect the $200.00 rebate from Padre Pio Assembly #2813. The funds to extend this rebate for FY 2018-2019 shall be allocated from Padre Pio Assembly #2813 cash reserves.
