I have been living in Belvedere for ten years now and just recently went through an approval process with the Planning Department for my residence in Belvedere. This has been an absolutely pleasant experience and I would like to volunteer my time and skills as a trained architect to assist in planning the future built environment of the City of Belvedere. I bring to my position as a commissioner: A Passion for perfection in built environment: What has stimulated my interest in seeking appointment to the Planning Commission the most is my deep desire to preserve the natural beauty of Belvedere Island and contribute to improving and perfecting its built environment and architecture. From: Sent: Claire Slaymaker Saturday, May 05, 2018 11:16 AM Alison Foulis - City Clerk Application for Planning Commissioners seat Dear Marty, I would like to put my name on the list for the Planning Commission s upcoming seat. I interviewed with the City Council for the appointment as a Commissioner in June of 2016. I have been a designer in San Francisco for 25 years. I feel with my design background, my ability to read and understand plans and my understanding of and experience with the Belvedere codes, I would be an asset to the Planning Commission. I have also completed two additions to my Belvedere home and numerous other remodels and additions for clients in Belvedere and have direct experience with the Commission as a result. My husband and I have lived in Belvedere for 25 years and raised our son Christopher here. I have chaired block parties, and I am currently a block captain. I co chaired the Belvedere millennium at the San Francisco Yacht Club. I have served as president of the San Francisco Yacht Club Auxiliary and been on its board for many years. I am a member of the Raccoons, a fundraiser for Marin General Hospital. I am a member of SFMOMA s Modern Art Council and have been a member of ASID, American Society of Designers for 29 years. I feel very fortunate to be a part of this wonderful Community and feel being a member of the Planning Commission would be a great way to give back to the community. Sincerely, Claire Slaymaker 1
