Professional Experiences 3.1 Academics: 1982 present: Full-time teaching position at the Faculty of Economics, Thammasat University in Bangkok. Courses taught are both in the Thai and International Programs and include the following: Gender Economics, Economics of the Labour Market, Development Economics, Asian Economies, and Macroeconomics. 2004-2006: Director, Master Program in Women s Studies, Thammasat University. Women s Studies Program has been adapting its curriculum to serve the needs of both government and civil society. In particular, it is cooperating with the Office of Women s Affairs to design training courses for government officers in all ministries to enhance their understanding and capabilities for gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting. 2004 - present: Vice-chairperson, Women and Youth Studies Program, Thammasat University The Women and Youth Studies Program has long been encouraging all faculties to include incorporate gender dimension into as many courses as possible. Dr. Pawadee has played a leading role in developing the course on gender economics which is now included in the curriculum of the Economics faculty, making Thammasat University the first and only one in Thailand to offer such course. 3.2 Consultancy and Advisory: Since 1982, have served as consultants and held advisory positions for various national and international organizations, for example: 1

International Agencies: 2006 - present: member of UNDP Gender Advisory Board for Asia and the Pacific 1997-98: Coordinator of Gender Mainstreaming Facility-- UNDP/UNIFEM s technical assistance promoting gender equality in Thailand 1993-94: Women-in-Industry Expert, UNIDO's Project on Technical and Managerial Skills Training for Women in the Garment Industry in Four ASEAN Countries 1982- present: Consultant to several international organizations (such as The World Bank, USAID, ILO, UN ESCAP, UNESCO, UNIDO, UNCTAD and ADB) in the areas of women workers, migration, urbanization, industrialization and development Activities with Non-Government Organizations: 2005 present: Convener of Asia-Pacific Women's Watch (APWW). APWW is a regional network of NGOs monitoring the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action and CEDAW, and ensuring that gender dimension are integrated into all other international agreements. APWW is recognized by ESCAP as the main NGO counterpart for promoting women s advancement in Asia and the Pacific since Pre- Beijing period and it has been formally granted ECOSOC Special Consultative status at the ECOSOC session in August 2007. Have been attending the annual session of CSW every year between 1994 2007 as NGO representative and for the past five years have also been invited by the Thai government to join the official delegation in an advisory role. Founding member of Thai Women Watch (TW2) -- a network of women NGOs founded in 1996 to monitor the implementation of the Beijing Platform for Action in Thailand and to provide linkage between women NGOs with the government, UN and international NGOs. Government of Thailand: 2006 2007: Chairperson, Working Group to draft the Plan of Action on Women and the Economy for Thailand s Women s Development Plan, 2007-2011 1997-2003: Board Member, Thailand s National Commission on Women s Affairs, which is the government machinery for the advancement of women. 2000 2001: Economic Advisor to the President of Thai Parliament 1998-2000: Economic Advisor to Thailand s First Deputy Prime Minister 2
