Transposition of the UNCRPD into German law On 26 March 2009, the UNCRDP became legally binding in Germany ( ratifying law according to Art. 59 para. 2 of the Basic Law) The UNCRPD is a federal law which has an impact on international law In principle immediate implementation(but in line with Art. 4, para. 2 of the UNCRPD progressive realization with regard to economic, social and cultural rights) Direct application or application via interpretation that complies with the Convention According to Art. 4, para. 5, the UNCRPD equally applies to all parts of the German national state (i.e. Federation, Länder and municipalities) Where applicable, the application of the UNCRPD has priority over Community law (where falling under EU responsibility).
