PVFD Monthly Meeting Minutes March 7, 2017 Attendance Attached The meeting was called to order at 19:32 by Ed Connors. I. Secretary s Report Richard Marcus A correction was made to the February 2017 minutes. The Junior s netted $44.00 from the 50/50 raffle. The department raffle brought in approximately $500.00 M/S/C to accept the minutes as amended Karl Jacobs/Storm Connors. II. Treasurer s Report by Jamie Lagassie A. The report was read by Jamie Lagassie. It is attached to these minutes. M/S/C to accept the Treasurer s report Francis Lattizori/Karl Jacobs. III. Chief s report Jim Shanley A. The Chief s report is attached. IV. Training Shawn Wainman This is extrication month. A. 03/14 District drill at Stewart s for stabilization led by James Lagassie. B. 03/21 District drill at Stewart s for extrication led by James Lagassie, Larry Gillen & Heath Dorne. C. 03/28 Extrication at Stewart s for PV only. D. There will be a live burn in Torrington toward the end of April. E. 05/11 Brush Fire review in Torrington at the old UConn campus. Let Shawn Wainman or James Shanley know if you d like to attend. V. Trucks & Equipment A. Chris Kulinski noted an instance of the air pressure being too high in R3. This may be secondary to freezing moisture in the air. Please watch for this and report it if it occurs. B. James Lagassie reported that the large Holmatro cutter is intermittently malfunctioning once again. He believes it is secondary to the chrome plating flaking off in the piston chamber of the tool. Holmatro will be giving us a separate power supply with a core hose. VI. Truck Committee Shawn Wainman A. The final spec will be completed this week. VII. Grants James Shanley A. A grant from the DEEP to pay part of the tuition for the Introduction to the Fire Service has been applied for. Rebekah Lagassie will be attending this course this summer. VIII. Building Jim Shanley A. Nothing to report. IX. Membership A. Nothing to report Page 1 of 2

X. Training Committee A. Nothing to report XI. XII. Uniforms A. Nothing to report. Parade Committee A. We have declined an invitation from the fire department in Millbrook New York. XIII. Juniors Tracey Sikorski A. The juniors are planning on creating and maintaining a flower garden in the front of the station. B. The juniors will be cleaning out the old meeting room to use as their own meeting room. XIV. Correspondence Richard Marcus A. A notice from the East Litchfield Fire Department for their Fisherman s Breakfast was received. It will be held on April 8 th from 05:00 to 11:00. XV. Old Business A. Ed Connors announced that the member jackets have arrived. They will be distributed after the meeting. XVI. New Business A. James Shanley stated that he was proposing a paid-on-call program to be included in the upcoming budget. He will be asking for $2,000 annually. He is planning on distributing $500.00 divided between responding members each quarter. B. Chris Kulinski asked that members refrain from placing debris from MVA s in the damaged vehicle. Owners have complained about possessions being ruined. The tow driver will take care of the accident debris. C. Ed Connors discussed the Firefighter s ski race at Mohawk Mountain. This was the 7 th annual Firefighter fund raiser for the Bridgeport Hospital Burn Center. He stated that we beat Avon. We didn t come in first but we also didn t come in last.
