Professional Experience apple Director, Monitoring Sustainability of Globalization (MSN) Kuala Lumpur (2002 to present). MSN is a research based advocacy organization focusing on trade, labour and water issues in the country and the region. We are presently developing a manual on the human rights to water for the region, promoting the spirituality of water in a multi-racial and religious society. Also, the organization provides research and advocacy support to trade unions, labor groups in the region, besides working with parliamentarians, media, activists and policy makers. MSN is in the International Organizing Committee of the Asia-Europe Peoples' Forum (AEPF) and works with Asia Pacific Movement for Debt and Development Jubilee South (APMDD-JS). apple Social Auditor, Verite South East Asia (1997 to present). I have audited more than 100 factories in the region and Saipan, USA. Furthermore, I have been involved in training on compliance for contract manufacturers and multinational corporations in Asia and the United States. In addition, I have been involved in developing remediation plans and working with companies to improve on compliance. apple Asia Researcher, Transnational Institute, the Netherlands (2002-present). I was involved in research projects involving Free Trade Agreements in the region, and specifically involving Asia and Europe. apple Part-time Lecturer, MBA Sydney Graduate School of Management, University of Western Australia, offered at ATC- Kemayan (2001 to present). I was invited by the European Commission in Brussels to undertake a mid-term evaluation of the Asia -Europe Foundation. Previous Affiliations Executive Council Member, Majlis Belia Malaysia (Malaysian Youth Council) (1981 1983). This is an umbrella organization of all youth organizations in the country. Initiated and organized nation wide study on worker retrenchment. Presented memorandum to Labour Ministry which entailed causes of lay-off's and its social ramifications, state support for retrenched workers and review of existing labour laws. Put forward a 12 point national plan (later adopted) to fight drug abuse among youths. Worked as part of a team that formulated the National Youth Charter. Majlis Perundingan Belia Negara (Malaysian Youth Consultative Council), Appointed Member (1979 1983). This is both an advisory and consultative body focused on issues of importance to youths and the state. 5
