Leadership Mitchell County The Leadership Mitchell County (LMC) program, a unique leadership development initiative that draws upon the resources of the Kansas Leadership Center (KLC) in Wichita, is now taking applications for Class 19. Deadline for applications is June 1, 2018. The Program Over the course of nine months, participants will travel to various businesses and locations within Mitchell, Osborne, Lincoln, and Ellsworth counties as well as a trip to Kansas State University and the Kansas State Capitol to learn from business leaders, LMC alumni and leading academics. They will study and put into practice KLC competencies, develop a network of peers, and exchange ideas with mentors and others who can help them make an impact in their communities. Sessions are facilitated by LMC Board Members, alumni and area supporters. The LMC Board includes: President, Mallory Wittstruck of Central Valley Ag.; Vice President, Danielle Jeardoe of Waconda Trader; Secretary, Ingrid McMillan of Post Rock Crossfit; Treasurer, Mark Palen of AGCO; Curt Frasier of Fraiser, Johnson and Martin LLC; Kelly Schmitt of Wall to Wall Carpet & Interior; Eric Hilt of AgMark LLC; Scott Hartman of Van Keppel; Susan Flinn of Guaranty State Bank and Terry Cunningham of Cunningham Telephone & Cable. The Curriculum Each LMC session will focus on a specific core component of leadership including: Manage Self, Diagnose Situation, Intervene Skillfully, and Energize Others. In addition to interactive LMC alumni-led sessions, participants will hone their personal leadership development through work with business leaders and mentors. Small group activity is another core part of the programming with each class selecting, developing and executing a project for the benefit of the Mitchell County community through the application of the skills they learn through the program. LMC has given me the tools, knowledge, and confidence to further develop my leadership skills and aspirations. It has given me the opportunity to meet some great people in this community, and develop long lasting friends, said Jennifer Giersch, LMC Class 15. If you or someone you know is interested in participating as a class member for Class 19, you can find the application online at www.leadershipmitchellcounty.org. The class size is limited to 20 participants with the opportunity of two applicants from Osborne County and two applicants from Jewell County.
