The German IAB-BAMF-SOEP-Refugee Survey Population Persons who came to Germany between 1st of January 2013 and 31st of January 2016 and applied for asylum: Asylum seekers Individuals granted asylum, recognized refugees or with subsidiary protection Individuals whose asylum claims have been rejected but who are permitted to remain in the country temporarily with the status of Duldung Sampling via German Central Register of Foreigners (AZR), access limited to BAMF-Research Centre Rother OECD 12.02.2018 Page 6

The German IAB-BAMF-SOEP-Refugee Survey Design Household concept (typical as in GSOEP): interview with anchor person 18+ and all other household members (from wave 2 on: incl. children ) Panel study with at least 3 waves 2016, 2017 and 2018 First wave: 4.500 individuals in 3.200 households; response rate: 50,1% Additional refreshment sample: 1.500 additional interviews, first surveyed 2017 Integration into GSOEP Linkage with Employment Data of the IAB Mode: CAPI, translated into 8 most common languages, audio-files available e.g. for illiterates Rother OECD 12.02.2018 Page 7
