Sophie Walraven gained fame in a short time with # wienzebek. Sophie paints Twitter avatars of her followers and let her following guess who it is. This guerrilla online art form became a hit online and in the media. If you are curious if Sophie ever targeted your followers or friends, she s putting all the paintings she has made on display this weekend. Want your avatar to be made too? She does paint on demand. For money of course.
Sophie s other projects New Work for New York and Art from the Scrapyard are exposed too. Sophie: I work in a guerrilla-like fashion and lots of street art. Carolien makes monumental industrial work on big canvas. Our work is totally different and therefore provides a cool mix. If you want this work to be seen properly, you ll have to find the right place. This hall we found is fantastic. The Kromhouthal is an uncut diamond that fits our work. Carolien: We are bad in concessions. We are extremely picky on work and the way we want it to be displayed. Carolien Wissing is presenting paintings in her newest series Modern Cathedrals. These paintings show the construction sites of the North/South metro line or the Second Coentunnel. These contemporary constructions are made possible by allot of men, money and time. In Carolien s view, these are Modern Cathedrals.
Both women are proud to announce that RAW Art expo isn t paid with public funding or and isn t subsidized. I m especially fan of this expo, because I was honoured with a #wienzebek too. I bought is and have it in my living room. Thanks Sophie!
