They have an elected representative government and legislature and a Constitution as laws of the land. 13. Explain three differences between a republic and a monarchy. Republics have elected officials. Monarchs are appointed or their power is hereditary. Republics have many representatives from its regions of its country who make laws, these people can be voted out of office. A monarch usually serves for life unless removed from office. 14.
