COUNCIL BLUFFS COMMUNITY SCHOOLS BOARD MINUTES REGULAR MEETING February 9, 2016 6:30 P.M. 300 West Broadway, Suite 1600 Council Bluffs, Iowa Public Hearing: 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 School Calendars An Open Meeting was called to order at 6:30 p.m. by President Bill Grove to hold the Public Hearing on 2016-2017 and 2017-2018 School Calendars Board Members present for the Hearing were: Troy Arthur, Chris LaFerla, Dave Coziahr, Jill Ogg-Gress, Susan Riley, Presentation was given by: Dr. Martha Bruckner, Superintendent of Schools Public Hearing was adjourned at 6:33 p.m. 1. Call to Order The meeting was called to order by President Bill Grove at 6:33 p.m. 2. Roll Call Members Present: Troy Arthur, Chris LaFerla, Dave Coziahr, Jill Ogg-Gress, Susan Riley, 3. Safety Awards Abraham Lincoln High School, College View Elementary School, Kirn Middle School, Bloomer Elementary School, and Facilities, Maintenance and Custodial Services, were recognized for the outstanding safety they bring to their work environment. 6. Informational Presentations Annual Technology Report Presentation was given by Dave Fringer Chief Technology Officer; Jessica Plueger, School Administrative Manager at Wilson Middle School; Reni Champion, teacher at Wilson Middle School; Denise Hoag and James Crum, Thomas Jefferson High School teachers; Wilson Middle School student Chandler Scott, along with his mother, Jessie Scott; and Thomas Jefferson Robotics students, Jorge Cisneros, Seth Arthur, Ernie Rodriguez, Ana Rodriguez, and Teayanna Leytham Library Media Report Presentation was given by Dr. Corey Vorthmann, Assistant Superintendent for Teaching & Learning; Amy Recker, Director, Classroom Ready for United Way of the Midlands; and Mary Newman, librarian at Thomas Jefferson High School Student Teachers and Practicum Students Report Legislative Update Presentation was given by Diane Ostrowski, Chief Communications Officer Report on Participation in the Early Retirement Incentive - Classified Resolutions Approval of the Resolution to approve the 2016-2017 School Calendar BE IT RESOLVED the Board move to approve the proposed calendar for the 2016-2017 school year. Seconded by: Susan Riley Approval of Resolution Appointing Trustee, approving the Trust Indenture and Authorizing the Execution of Same; and Approval of Tax Exemption Certificate; and Resolution Authorizing the Terms of Issuance and Providing for and Securing the Payment of School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds for $3,029,000 School Infrastructure Sales, Services and Use Tax Revenue Bonds, Series 2016A I introduce the following Resolution entitled RESOLUTION APPOINTING TRUSTEE, APPROVING THE TRUST INDENTURE AND AUTHORIZING THE EXECUTION OF SAME and move its adoption. I move that the form of Tax Exemption Certificate be placed on file and approved. I introduce the following Resolution entitled RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING AND PROVIDING FOR THE TERMS OF ISSUANCE AND SECURING THE PAYMENT OF $3,029,000 SCHOOL INFRASTRUCTURE SALES, SERVICES AND USE TAX REVENUE BONDS, SERIES 2016A, OF THE COUNCIL BLUFFS COMMUNITY SCHOOL DISTRICT, STATE OF IOWA, UNDER THE PROVISIONS OF CHAPTERS 423E AND 423F OF THE CODE OF IOWA, AND PROVIDING FOR A METHOD OF PAYMENT OF SAID BONDS, and move its adoption.
