Bylaws of the LHS Soccer Booster Club Article I Name This organization is incorporated under the laws of the State of Texas as a non-profit organization and known as the LHS Soccer Booster Club. Article II Objectives Section 2. Section 3. Section 4. Section 5. Article III Limitations To support all levels of Lewisville boys and girls soccer activity, encourage community support, and promote maximum attendance at all games. To encourage good sportsmanship towards officials, the opposing team, and visitors at all athletic contests. To show all boys and girls of the LHS soccer teams that people of Lewisville are behind them 100%. To aid in projects presented by the booster club, coaches, and school administrators that make for a better soccer program. To aid in selling the youth, parents, and public on the value of participation in the soccer program. The LHS Soccer Booster Club shall be nonpartisan and nonpolitical and shall take no part, either directly or indirectly, in control or direction of any athletic
program conducted by the coaches. Programs, purchases, and activities proposed by the LHS Booster Club must meet the final approval of the coaches. This organization is organized and operated exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code. Upon dissolution of this organization, its assets shall be disposed of exclusively for the purposes of the corporation or distributed to such organizations organized and operated exclusively for charitable purposes which shall, at the time, qualify as exempt organization under section 501(c)(3), or shall be distributed to the federal government, or to a state or local government, for a public purpose. No part of the net earnings of the corporation shall inure to the benefit of or be distributed to any director, employee or other individual, partnership, estate, trust or corporation having a personal or private interest in the corporation. Compensation for services actually rendered and reimbursement for expenses actually incurred in attending to the affairs of this organization shall be limited to reasonable amounts. No substantial amount of the activities of the corporation shall be the carrying on of propaganda, or otherwise attempting to influence legislation and this organization shall not intervene in (including the publishing or distributing of statements) any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office. Article IV Membership Eligibility Any person with a legitimate interest in the general welfare of the LHS soccer program shall be eligible for membership in the LHS Soccer Booster Club.
Section 2. The membership fee shall be determined by a vote of the club. Acceptance of this fee from any person shall automatically make a member. Member means a parent or guardian of an active player whose dues are paid in full and registration form is on file with the club secretary. Section 3. GIRLS ONLY Section 4. Voting Making the soccer team for that year shall allow admittance into the athletic banquet for each player. All parents or guardians will be subject to an admittance fee. 1. During normal business meetings, a simple majority of club members present will pass a motion. 2. During the election of future officers, the voting members shall be restricted to members who will have an active player the coming season. 3. Voting absentee: Absentee voting will be allowed by members who present their ballots to a board member prior to the election meeting. Article V Board of Directors The Board of Directors shall be made up of the president, two vice presidents (one boys and one girls ), secretary, two treasurers (one boys and one girls ), the immediate past president, and two varsity soccer team members at large, one each from the boys team and girls team, to be selected by the varsity teams. Section 2. Section 3. Section 4. Section 5. Article VI Officers Board of Directors should consist of a balance of officers from both the boys and girls team. During the suspension of regular meetings of the LHS Booster Club, the Board of Directors shall conduct the business of the club. The Board of Directors shall have the power to fill all vacancies in the club. The Board of Directors shall submit in writing at the last regular meeting a full report of the work and finances of the organization. A majority of the Board of Directors shall constitute a quorum at any meeting. During the last month of regular scheduled meetings, the club shall elect for the ensuing year, a president, two vice presidents, secretary [or two secretaries], and two treasurers. Section 2. The president shall preside at all meetings of the club and Board of Directors, and perform all duties relative to this office. He/She shall be subject to the approval of the Board of Directors, shall appoint all committees, and shall be ex-officio member of all committees. He/She shall, at such times as he/she deems proper, make suggestions that may tend to promote the prosperity and increase the usefulness of the club.
Section 3. The vice presidents shall act in the absence of the president. They shall perform those duties designated by the president. They will consult the coaches to identify opportunities for the booster club to assist the LHS soccer teams. Section 4. The secretary shall maintain an accurate written record of all proceedings during the meetings and present this record for approval at the next meeting. The secretary shall be responsible for all club correspondence including newspapers and letters as well as incoming requests for information. Section 5. The treasurers shall receive and disburse the funds of the club and keep all monies deposited in its name. The girls treasurer and the boys treasurer shall maintain separate bank accounts and records. At frequent intervals, the treasurers shall make reports of the club s financial condition to the members. The treasurers shall each chair or be a member of all fundraising committees. The treasurers shall work with the concession stand committee and ensure that all transactions are recorded. Two signatures are required from non-student members of the Board of Directors for all checks in excess of $200. Article VII Meetings If possible, the first regularly scheduled meeting of the club shall be during the month of August, with subsequent meetings to be held monthly during the school year. Article VIII Regular Business During the period of regular meetings, a simple majority of the membership present shall be required to enact legislation. Article IX Amendments
These bylaws may be amended or altered by a two-thirds vote of those members present at any regular or special meeting of the LHS Soccer Booster Club. Article X - Ratification This proposed set of bylaws shall be submitted to the club at the first meeting of each school year. A two-thirds affirmation vote shall cause this set of bylaws to become effective immediately. Article XI Scholarships Section 2. LHS Soccer Booster Club shall designate two boys and two girls $500.00 annual scholarships ($2,000.00 total). All criteria of the scholarship must be met before consideration will be given to the student. If fewer than two girls and two boys meet the criteria, then scholarships will be given only to the girls and boys who meet the criteria. A scholarship committee shall be formed, consisting of the following: 1. Three or four local businesses and community representatives that do not have children in the soccer program. 2. One committee chairperson appointed by the president will oversee the scholarship application and committee deliberation process. Parents of seniors are not eligible for the committee.
Section 3. Limitations and guidelines: 1. Proof of enrollment to a college must be submitted no later than December 31 st following the student s senior year in high school (end of first semester of college). 2. A letter (form) of enrollment from the college is valid proof of enrollment. These forms are usually obtained from the college registrar s office and are usually not available until after the semester begins. 3. Unacceptable examples of proof of enrollment: a. Letter of acceptance b. Book receipts c. Tuition bill 4. If a scholarship has not been claimed by December 31 st following completion of the scholarship winner s senior year in high school, and paid by the following February 1st, the money shall stay in the general fund of the LHS Soccer Booster Club. 5. A parent or guardian of the scholarship applicant must have been a member of the LHS Soccer Booster Club for as long as the player was involved with the LHS soccer program at LHS. The parent(s) of the applicant and the applicant must have no outstanding financial obligations to the Booster Club.
