The full committee meeting was opened by Chair Duane Kann at 08:13 on 8 May with the introduction of members and guests followed by opening remarks by the Chair. The minutes of the 23 October meeting were approved. Ken Holland, staff liaison, reviewed the general procedures for the meeting, the cycles for NFPA 405, 408 & 422, legal considerations and the first draft meeting process. The Chair gave a report on the input for the NFPA 1003 document. Further details were provided by the task group chair Steve Listerman. The NFPA 1003 committee was particularly interested in comments on Chapter 5 of NFPA 1003 Following a 10 minute break, the committee began processing public input for NFPA 405. The committee resolved 10 public input and generated a total of 14 first revisions from those public inputs. The committee broke for lunch at 12:35. Work resumed at 14:10 with the committees continued work on generating first revisions to NFPA 405. The committee voted to withdraw documents NFPA 408 and NFPA422. This was based on public input that was submitted for NFPA 408 while the committee voted to withdraw NFPA 422 due to the lack of use of the document as well as the potential for conflict it could create if used. The chair indicated that public inputs would be developed based on the relevant portions of 408 to be submitted to NFPA 10 for possible inclusion in their 2
document. This would be done through the use of a task group, to be established at a later date based on the outcome of the ballot of the entire committee with regards to the withdrawal of NFPA 408. Page 1 of 2 2/13/2014 Public Comment No. 3-NFPA 422-2013 [ Global Input ] Change the title, the scope of the document and all the elements to include it's usage for documenting ARFF response exercises. Suggested Title: Aircraft Accident/Incident/Exercise response assesment and documentation Suggested scope: Change after effectiveness... of the Aircraft Rescue and Fire Fighting responses to simulated or real aircraft Accident Incidents. Statement of Problem and Substantiation for Public Comment The document as it stands is rarely used due to the potential legal implication of infringing on the official aircraft accident investigator. Adding in the scope, the documentation of simulations will provide the user with a comprehensive checklists and allow for standardisation of data. In this format, the investigator could still use it as a tool if required.
