FOND DU LAC BOARD OF EDUCATION 72 West Ninth Street Fond du Lac, Wisconsin July 9, 2018 CONVENE Call to Order, Roll Call, Establish Quorum, Moment of Reflection/ Pledge of Allegiance The regular meeting of the Board of Education was called to order by President Uselmann at 5:00 p.m. Roll Call was as follows: Members present: Hayes, Jones, Jurgella, Walk, Uselmann. Administrative staff members present: Sebert, Gerlach, Lewis, Sheridan, Williams. Prior to the Pledge of Allegiance, the Board observed a Moment of Reflection. The Pledge was led by the Board of Education. ANNOUNCEMENTS/ COMMUNICATIONS President Uselmann made the following announcements: 1. Following adjournment of the regular meeting, the Board will convene in a workshop to discuss the Applied Population Study for the District; to discuss suggested revisions to handbooks for Teachers/Professional Educators, the Educational Support Professionals Association, and Custodial/Maintenance Employees; and for the Annual Board Retreat. Following adjournment of the workshop, the Board will convene in an executive session as provided for in Wisconsin Statutes 19.85(1)(c) and (e) to discuss negotiations with the Fond du Lac Education Association and to discuss the Superintendent s 2017-18 year-end evaluation. Resignation Matthew Esselman, alternative education teacher at Fondy Central, effective June 7, 2018. 2. Employment Recommendations - Effective the 2018-19 teacher contract year: Heather Hansen, 1.0 FTE LMC specialist at Evans and Parkside Elementary Schools, at Level 10; Koreen Larson, 1.0 FTE grade 1 teacher at Pier Elementary School, at Level 5; Lori Rodenkirch, 1.0 FTE art teacher at Chegwin and Roberts Elementary Schools, at Level 6; Rachel Schwartzbard, 1.0 FTE mathematics teacher at STEM Institute, at Level 1; and Thomas (TJ) Williams, 1.0 FTE physical education teacher at Evans Elementary School, at Level 3. 3. Board of Education 7/9/18 Page 3 Curriculum and Instruction Consider Approval of the Annual Declaration and Parent Notice of the District s Student Academic Standards for the 2018-19 School Year MOTION BY Jurgella, seconded Hayes the Board of Education approve the proposed Notice of Student Academic Standards in the Fond du Lac School District in Effect for the 2018-19 School Year as presented pursuant to section 120.12(13)(b) and section 118.30(1g)(a) of the state statutes; AND I move the Board direct the administration to provide parents and guardians of District students with notice of the Board-adopted student academic standards that are in effect for the 2018-19 school year in a manner that is consistent with the requirements of section 120.12(13) of the state statutes. Dr. Sebert provided a NEOLA policy update. He reported that the NEOLA policies for the District are now in First Draft - Clean status. The updates that the Board has suggested are being made and passed on to NEOLA. We anticipate being ready for an Adoption Resolution at the August 13 Board Meeting. Following the Adoption Resolution, the NEOLA policies will go into effect and replace the current Board Policy Manual. Board members shared recent District activities/events they have attended. None.
