The regular meeting of the Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education was held in the Board Room of the Administration Office, 317 North Market Street, Lisbon, Ohio 44432 at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday,. The meeting was called to order by the President, James Smith. The Pledge of Allegiance was led by the president. The following members were present: Mr. Eugene Gallo, Mrs. Martina Grimm, Mr. TK Hiscox, Mr. Gary Peruchetti, and Mr. James Smith. The minutes of the Meeting held Wednesday, February 12, 2014 and the Special Meeting held Monday, March 3, 2014 were approved following a motion by Mrs. Grimm and a second by Mr. Peruchetti. On roll call the vote was: Ayes Mrs. Grimm, Mr. Peruchetti, Mr. Gallo, Mr. Hiscox, and Mr. Smith. Nays none. The president declared the motion carried. RECEPTION OF VISITORS Asha Achberger, Denise Achberger, Paster Rich Applegarth, Mya Emmerling, Tom Giambroni, Julie Hilliard, Dan Kemats, Lauri Sauerwein, Joe Siefke, and Heidi Swift BOARD OF EDUCATION REPORT McKinley Elementary Fitness Program 14-03-12 Lauri Sauerwein, the McKinley Physical Education Teacher, explained the Get Fit Club that was made available to the 4 th & 5 th Grade Students at McKinley School to see if there was an interest. Fifty students signed up for the seven week sessions. She explained that the students met 1-2 days a week for an hour after school for physical fitness, individual and team sports, and nutrition. She is offering the program to the 3 rd Grade students followed by the 1 st and 2 nd Grades in the next months. The Fourth Grade Students, Asha Achberger and Mya Emmerling, demonstrated some things they learned in the Get Fit Club. ACHIEVEMENT UPDATE 14-03-12 Mr. Thompson gave the Board an update on the second round of the Straight A Fund Program. Last year the application was made for three different grants with none awarded. Deadline is the 1 st week of April. We are participating in two different Grant Applications: one is a Stem Grant with seven Districts through the ESC; the second one is a Compressed Natural Gas Grant. TREASURER S REPORT 14-03-12 Village Board of Education approved the financial report of the treasurer. Nays APPROVE PAYMENT OF LISTED BILLS 14-03-12 Board of Education approved payment of the listed bills. The ADDITION OF FUND 022 14-03-12-0041 Village Board of Education approved addition of Fund 022 for the accounting for athletic tournament activity to the District s list of funds and approved appropriations of $4,430 for the 2014 Fiscal Year. Mr. BLUE DEVIL LOGO 14-03-12-0046 Village Board of Education approved the enclosed license agreement with Home Savings and Loan Company of Youngstown for use of the Blue Devil Logo for promotional materials. TURF MAINTENANCE SERVICES 14-03-12-0047 Following a motion by Mr. Hiscox and a second by Mr. Gallo, the Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education entered into a contract with Land Approach, LTD of Salem, Ohio to provide turf maintenance services at the stadium for a cost of $1,270.00 for the 2014 Season according to the quote attached. On roll call the vote was: Ayes Mr. Hiscox, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Grimm, Mr. Peruchetti, and Mr. Smith. Nays none. The president declared the motion carried. DISTRICT LAWN MOWING SERVICES 14-03-12-0048 Village Board of Education entered into a contract with Hayes Lawn Care, Lisbon, Ohio for the District Lawn Mowing Services at a rate of $400.00 per cut, not to exceed 21 cuts a year for a two year period to include the 2014 and 2015 mowing seasons. On roll call the vote was: Ayes Mr. Peruchetti, Mr. Hiscox, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Grimm, and Mr. Smith. Nays CONTRACT FOR STADIUM CARETAKER 14-03-12-0049 Following a motion by Mrs. Grimm and a second by Mr. Peruchetti, the Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education approved a Fifth Grade Outdoor Education Field Trip to Camp Kon-O-Kwee Spencer, issued a one year contract to Scott Gallo as Stadium Caretaker effective March 13, 2014 through March 12, 2015 at a rate of $12.00 per hour not to exceed 600 hours for the year of the contract. PART TIME SEASONAL STADIUM CUSTODIAN 14-03-12-0050 Board of Education approved Brian Clapsaddle as a part time seasonal stadium custodian at a rate of pay at $8.50 per hour not to exceed 400 hours per year. The SENIOR CLASS OF 2014 14-03-12-0051 Following a motion by Mrs. Grimm and a second by Mr. Peruchetti, the Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education approved the enclosed list of seventy-four (74) members of the David Anderson Jr./Sr. High School Senior Class of 2014 pending final completion of all requirements for graduation. The 1,000 MB DEDICATED CONNECTIVITY 14-03-12-0054 Village Board of Education entered into a contract with Time Warner Cable for 1,000 MB dedicated connectivity from the Board of Education Office with McKinley Elementary and the Board of Education Office to David Anderson Jr./Sr. High School for a three year period effective July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2017 at an annual cost of $17,760. INTERNET CONNECTIVITY AT 200 MB 14-03-12-0055 Board of Education entered into a contract with Ohio Mid-Eastern Regional Education Service Agency (OMERESA) for internet connectivity at 200 MB for a three (3) year period effective July 1, 2014 through June 30, 2017 at a total cost of $42,780. Nays PARTICIPATION CONSENT FROM FOR EARLY CREDIT PROGRAM 14-03-12-0056 Village Board of Education authorized the Superintendent to approve the participation consent form for the early credit program with ITT Technical Institute Youngstown. Nays SPRING SPORTS VOLUNTEER COACH 14-03-12-0057 Following a motion by Mr. Hiscox and a second by Mr. Peruchetti, the Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education approved Nikol Mundy as a volunteer coach for the 2014 Junior High Track Season. On roll call the vote was: Ayes Mr. Hiscox, Mr. Peruchetti, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Grimm, and Mr. CLASSIFIED RESIGNATION 14-03-12-0058 Following a motion by Mr. Gallo and a second by Mrs. Grimm, the Lisbon Exempted Village Board of Education accepted the resignation of Zach Crothers, custodian effective March 21, 2014. On roll call the vote was: Ayes Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Grimm, Mr. Hiscox, Mr. Peruchetti, and Mr. SUPERINTENDENT S REPORT Mr. Kemats Several Programs are being held at McKinley to include Family Fun Nights and Musical Programs McKinley is giving a 5 th Grade Math OAA Test using the PARCC Online Testing process; Early Implementation of the new testing method to be better prepared for the implementation next school year. Late April or early May is OAA Testing time. Holding a Literacy Night on April 5 th for all grades sponsored through the Early Literacy Grant. Mr. Seifke Just finished 2 nd cycle of the OTES Evaluation process. Boys District Basketball Game on Friday, March 7 th which conflicted with the Friday performance of Cinderella Students elected to cancel the Friday performance in order to attend. County Spelling Bee rescheduled for March 17 th. National Honor Society induction will be held March 18 th Spring Drug Testing for Spring Sports March 24 th 3 rd Nine Weeks ends March 28 th Mr. Thompson Stressed the importance of the approval of the Erate Contracts on the agenda. Updated the Calamity Day Legislation which only needs Governor s Signature: Review the Districts makeup days which were approved previously. Consider another Grade Re-Alignment which would move the 5 th Grade to the Jr/Sr High School; provide the Board with his rationale for the adjustment. Special Board Meeting Saturday, March 15 th at 9:00 a.m. EXECUTIVE SESSION 14-03-12 Village Board of Education moved into Executive Session to consider the employment and compensation of a public employee at 6:11 p.m. On roll call the vote was: Ayes Mr. Peruchetti, Mr. Gallo, Mrs. Grimm, Mr. Hiscox, and Mr. Smith.
