Visiting Rotarian: Mike Barrington from the Concord Club, who was today s speaker. Guests of Rotarians: Guests were Bob Athayde, Ginny Reynolds, Norman Dee and Brian Cardo

Announcements: A check for $3850 was presented to the Lafayette schools music program. Funds raised at the Concert at the Rez. Thanks to the club were made by Bob Athayde, Ginny Reynolds, Norman Dee and Brian Cardo. The club honored Dick Holt and Mo Levitch for their amazing dedication to the youth music program. John Sherry presented Rotary jackets and shirts to new members Alicia Cragholm and Dino Riggio. Chuck Vogel announced details for the upcoming Holiday Party to be held on December 9 at the Lafayette Park Hotel. A sign-up sheet was distributed. There was discussion of whether there would be regular meetings or breakfast meetings for December 23rd and 30th. There was apparent consensus that there would be a breakfast meeting on December 23rd and a gin fizz breakfast on the 30th. Mike Heller reported on the Reservoir Run pancake breakfast which was a big success last Sunday morning. Although there was a big turnout the profits were modest. Mike Henn reported that only two members of the 5-6 who signed up as volunteer poll workers were contacted by the Registrar s Office, and worked. Jay Lifson announced that the Chamber would be holding a community breakfast on November 19, 2011 7:00 to 8:30 am at Our Saviors Lutheran Church on 1035 Carol Lane in Lafayette. Happy Dollars: Dick Holt reported that a recent medical event went well and he was contributing because of the SF Giants long overdue World Series win. Maurice Williams donated on behalf of the amazing Lafayette music program that benefited his kids. Other fine contributor were Steve Falk, Lisa Cohen, Bob Aguilar and others. Pete Barbounis was named to an important post in the Hemophilia Society. Speaker: Mike Barrington, PhD. from the Concord Club presented a talk and PowerPoint presentation on Rotary s international assistance to Third World countries. These included clean water projects and micro-credit programs for women in Ethiopia, setting up a prosthetic limbs clinic in Ecuador with highlights of tragic cases, wheelchair distribution in Mexico, efforts to fight desertification in the Gobi Desert due to over-cutting and over-grazing. and schools and clean water in Burkina Faso. The club warmly thanked Dr. Barrington for his work and presentation.
