Next board meeting: September 8, 2016 at 4PM in the home of Jackie Moriarty Guardians of the Charter (Jean McGarry) o Laws and Rules meeting Aug 8 th, 2016 (Monday Night) o There is nothing happening on the Guardian side as the legislature hasn't made any proposal to alter the Charter o No talk about the Charter o Dave Donaldson (City Legislature) had announced that the discussion on environmental issues was going overtime so the meeting on Campaign Finance was canceled. o Campaign Finance, Incumbents was on the agenda. Does the League have a position? It should apply to all people running o The legislation on campaign finance is strictly a local law for Ulster County office holders only and does not fall under the Charter The biggest flaw is that while it curtails the incumbent from accepting contributions from lobbyists it doesn't do the same for the challenger So the incumbent can't be bought but the challenger can

Changes in the By-Laws- (Jolanda Jansen) Since the changes to the by-laws are ones that bring us in compliance with the ones held by the National League we do not have to vote on them locally, but we will share them with the members by publishing them in the commentator. Three members were elected at the May 18 Annual Meeting: Lee Cane, Kathy Germain, Christine Henning How do we respond when Ulster County (or Dutchess County) asks for our opinion on a Topic we have not studied? e.g. relocation of Family Court to DSS building. What is the cost of the relocation? League cannot give a response about the issue without a study. Cindy and Jacki mentioned presenting a concurrence in the Commentator if we had pros and cons of locating Family Court outside the city limits to the Business Resource Center.
