Measures On 2012 The National Mine Action Authority open three sub office at Darfur States and request MOFA to discuss mine action / ERWs implementation with UNAMID. On March 2012 NMAC signed MoU with Ordinance Disposal Office (ODO) represents the mission in Darfur for road clearance and ERWs tasks with cooperation and licence from NMAC to address joint operations and report to NMAA. Supplementary information (e.g., effective date of implementation & text of legislation attached). During the year 2012 two National NGOs JASMAR for Human Security (JASMAR) and Friends of Peace and Development (FPDO) have shown interest in developing their capacity and stepping in non technical and technical Survey and Clearance operations. Both organizations applied for accreditation. After thorough review, both JASAMR and FPDO received desk accreditation from the NMAC and applied for funds through a response to a recent UNOPS Request For Proposal. National Demining Units (NDUs) and the two national NGOs are committed to remain engaged in Sudan program until the Sudan s compliance with its Article 5 obligations, subject to availability of financial resources. Sudan has already transferred from the emergency to development phase in term of mine action program. Therefore, It has been agreed that the current UNMAS Support to Sudan mine action project would be transferred to UNDP Sudan by the year 2013. The agreed UNDP mine action project will take place from 2013 2016 aiming at developing the existing capacities as well as linking mine action to the brooder development context in Sudan. The National mine Action Centre (NMAC) supported by UNICEF and with close coordination with the Ministry of Education (MOE), has been able to integrat MRE into the school curriculum. School books with MRE in which MRE is reintegrated would be available to pupils and students will be available in 2013. - 3 -

Note: Dangerous areas refers to areas where there is reason to believe that landmines or UXO exist. Form I Measures to provide warning to the population i) The measures taken to provide an immediate and effective warning to the population in relation to all areas identified under paragraph 2 of Article 5." Remark: In accordance with Article 5, para.2: "Each State Party shall make every effort to identify all areas under its jurisdiction or control in which anti personnel mines are known or suspected to be emplaced and shall ensure as soon as possible that all anti personnel mines in mined areas under its jurisdiction or control are perimeter marked, monitored and protected by fencing or other means, to ensure the effective exclusion of civilians, until all antipersonnel mines contained therein have been destroyed. The marking shall at least be to the standards set out in the Protocol on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Mines, Booby Traps and Other Devices, as amended on 3 May 1996, annexed to the Convention on Prohibitions or Restrictions on the Use of Certain Conventional Weapons Which May Be Deemed to Be Excessively Injurious or to Have Indiscriminate Effects". Form J other relevant matters Remark: States Parties may use this form to report voluntarily on other relevant matters, including matters pertaining to compliance and implementation not covered by the formal reporting requirements contained in Article 7. States Parties are encouraged to use this form to report on activities undertaken with respect to Article 6, and in particular to report on assistance provided for the care and rehabilitation, and social and economic reintegration, of mine victims. Road Assessment The Sudan assessed Road 2,096 km during 2012. Victim Assistance (VA) The total number of the registered of landmine victims from 2002 to 2012 is1,879 out of which103 were registered in 2012 in the Information Management System (IMSMA). 12 VA income genereting activitiese funded by CHF and were implemented in Sudan during 2012. furthermore, another two socio- economic reintegration and psychological support projects were funded by DFID in south Kordofan and blue Nile, the total grant was USD 350,000 For a total number 275 mine ERW victims and PWDs of beneficiaries. During the project 150 beneficiaries provided with IGAs which are livestock / commercial, while 125 beneficiaries recived psychological support The government of Sudan pledged 4,000,000 SDG for supporting PWDs project through the National Disability Council (NDC). The identification and selection process for those projects are on going. VA/disability coordination mechanism in Darfur region enhanced as a result of establishing VA/disability Coordination Working Group in North Darfur. The coordination is composed of NGOs and Community Based Organizations (CBOs) as well as relevant governmental bodies to coordinate activities realted to physical rehabilitation, data collection, strategies for socio-economical reintegration and follow the progress of the implemented projects. As far as capacity development is concerened, a number of various managerial training courses provided to skills towards supporting national partners to build their capacities on the rights of persons with disabilities as well as launching an advocacy campaign on the rights of Persons with Disabilities (PWDs) to minimize duplication of effort and achieve synergy among all stakeholders. - 11 -

State Party: Sudan reporting for time period from 1 January 2012 to 31 December 2012 Mine Risk Education (MRE) During the reporting period, 12 MRE teams working with mine-affected communities. activities MRE activities through direct sessions, radio, puppet show, drama and songs delivered to 194,961 at risk groups, including Internally Displaced People (IDPs), returnees and local populations provided. In some ineccessible areas of the conflicts ( Blue Nile and Southern Kordufan) The affected communities received MRE through radio. The National mine Action Centre (NMAC) in close cooperation with UNICEF and the Ministry of Education (MOE), represented by National Centre for curriculum and Educational Research has finished integrating MRE into the school system in the affected areas by supporting inclusion of MRE into the formal school curriculum to the pupils and students in both studies stages (basic and secondary). To mainstream MRE into national mine action priorities, the NMAC has contributed to implementation of Teacher training project, During the reporting period, 732 teachers were trained in South Kordufan, 442 teachers in Kassala State, 320 teachers in Blue Nile State, in addition to Darfur states where 243 teachers trained in MRE. The teacher training project was implemented in collaboration with the State Ministers of Education in the three states and the NMAC took the lead in coordination and participated in facilitation during the training course. A system was setup in each state to ensure sustainability and monitoring of dissemination of MRE message to students, in targeted schools, - 12 -
