Belgium RESIDENCY BY INVESTMENT Belgium is the easiest country for obtaining the citizenship in the European Union. It is enough to reside only three years legally in the country! Of course all in all it takes five years to receive the Belgian citizenship, because the processing time takes 2 years, sometimes a little bit more. The applicant must pass the language test of either French, Dutch or German when applying for the Belgian passport. Applicants must make a significant economic contribution to the country in order to apply for the Belgian Residency by Investment Program. Cost & Investment Options There is no requirement for the minimum amount of investment, but the average cost of investment until citizenship stage (5 years) is around EUR 350,000-500,000. In the first year the recommended amount of investment is EUR 200,000. Third country nationals can apply for the BRP under investor or business category through forming a Belgian company with office. Then the investor becomes employer of his/her company and applies for the residence permit.
