District No. 15 Regular Meeting February 18, 2014 The regular meeting of the Board of Education of Clinton Community Unit School District No. 15 of the counties of DeWitt, Macon and Logan, State of Illinois, was held at 4:30pm, February 18, 2014 at the Clinton Junior High School, 701 Illini Drive, Clinton, Illinois. It was moved by Blythe, seconded by Carter, to enter into executive EXECUTIVE SESSION session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the school district 5ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) and pending litigation 5 ILCS 120/2 9 (c) (11). The President put the motion to a vote and the following roll call was taken: The Board entered into closed session at 4:31pm and returned at 6:57pm. It was moved by Savage, seconded by Blythe, to close the executive CLOSE OF session. GUESTS & VISITORS It was moved by Savage, seconded by Pruser, to approve the consent CONSENT AGENDA agenda which includes: a. Approve the minutes of the January 21, 2014 regular and closed session meeting. b. Financial Information Imprest Fund, Petty Cash Report, Treasurer s Report, Investment Summary, Insurance Pool Report, Transportation Report, Activity Fund Report, Cafeteria Report and Bills. c. Annually approve the membership in the IESA and IHSA and their association participation fees. d. Approve the hiring of Nathan Wheeler as Junior High/High School Band Director for the 2014-15 school year. 44
e. Annual Anatomy and Physiology trip to Logan University on March 3, 2014. f. Accept the resignation of Tami Fowler as teacher aide at Washington Elementary effective immediately. g. Approve the hiring of Angie Ball as a teacher aide for Washington Elementary School effective immediately. h. Approve the paternity leave request of 12 days for Curtis Conrady on or about April 22, 2014. i. High School baseball team to St. Louis May 4, 2014 at Busch Stadium. The President put the motion to a vote and the following roll call was taken: Steve Sebby, the construction manager with CCA, gave an update on ELEMENTARY the new elementary school. The building committee will work with SCHOOL UPDATE the building principals to finalize the accent colors for the main hallway, cafeteria and gymnasium. In addition, the board reviewed the landscape design for the building. Beth Wickenhauser went over the building utilization for Lincoln and Douglas as we prepare to move from Washington to Lincoln. The Board reviewed the principal and AD reports as presented. LINCOLN/DOUGLAS UTILIZATION REPORT PRINCIPAL & AD REPORTS The Board reviewed a request from Lifeway Behavioral to acquire LIFEWAY Webster Elementary School. The Board will maintain its commitment BEHAVIORAL to take the building down and return the area to green space. REQUEST 45
The Board heard an update on the 1% county wide sales tax. The 1% COUNTY WIDE committee will be conducting canvassing in Clinton, Farmer City, SALES TAX and the smaller towns in the school districts to make sure we have informed voters. The canvassing will take place on March 1, 8 and 15 starting at 9:00am at the Clinton Junior High. In addition, several speaking engagements will be taking place in the community over the next three weeks. The committee meets at 7:00pm on Thursdays at the American Legion. There will be a press conference on Thursday to kick off the campaign. The Board was informed that the band renovation project will be going out for bid at the end of next week. BAND ROOM RENOVATION The Board members were invited to attend an Illinois Association of IASB DINNER School Boards Spring dinner in Springfield on Tuesday, February 25. It was moved by Savage, seconded by Haas, to enter into executive EXECUTIVE SESSION session to discuss the appointment, employment, compensation, discipline, performance, or dismissal of specific employees of the school district 5ILCS 120/2 (c) (1) and to discuss collective negotiating matters between the district and its employees 105 ILCS 120/2 (c) (2). The President put the motion to a vote and the following roll call was taken: The Board entered into closed session at 8:00pm and returned at 8:34pm. It was moved by Blythe, seconded by Carter, to employ Robert Svencner for the 2014/2015 school year as High School assistant principal at a salary of $80,000. The President put the motion to a vote and the following roll call was taken: It was moved by Carter, seconded by Blythe, and duly voted by acclamation to adjourn at 8:36pm.
