Rainbow Trinity Constitution I. Rainbow Trinity 1. The Motto of Rainbow Trinity shall be Aequitas et Varietas. 2. The objectives of Rainbow Trinity shall be: a) To act as a social support group for marginalized orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, and intersex students, including but not limited to: asexual, bisexual, gay, gender fluid, genderqueer, intersex, lesbian, non binary, pansexual, queer, questioning, trans*, and two spirited Trinity students; b) To create more positive spaces for College members of diverse gender expressions, identities, and sexualities; c) To host events that foster an open and friendly environment throughout the academic year; d) To promote equity within Trinity by recognizing intersectionality and by celebrating the diversity of sexualities, gender identities, gender expressions, and physicalities within the College Community; e) To fight all forms of discrimination including, but not limited to: ableism, biphobia, cissexism, classism, lesbophobia, heterosexism, homophobia, racism, sexism, and transphobia 3. The Colours of Rainbow Trinity shall be those of the Rainbow and in the following order: red, orange, yellow, green, blue, and indigo. 4. The Crest of Rainbow Trinity shall be: a) Arms: The Trinity College Arms The Mitre, the Book, and the Helmet on the top, the Seven Trillium Flowers at the bottom, with the unicorn on the left and the Canadian deer on the right; b) Shield: Rainbow Colours on a Diagonal with a yellow border around the Shield c) Motto: AEQUITAS VARIETAS II. Members 1. The Institute shall consist of two classes of members Active Members, and Honorary Members. 2. Active members shall be all students of the University of Trinity College and any University of Toronto student who pays University of Trinity College Student Society fees. 3. Honorary Members shall consist of:

a) Former Members of the Rainbow Trinity Executive b) The Provost, Professors, Lecturers, Dons and Fellows of Trinity College III. The Executive 1. The Executive of Rainbow Trinity shall consist of the President, the Vice President Social, the Vice President Academic, the Treasurer, and the Secretary. It shall be at the discretion of the President over whether to have a First Year Representative and/or Members at Large. 2. At any meeting of the Execu tive, a majority of members thereof shall constitute a quorum. IV. The Duties of the Executive 1. The Duties of the Executive shall include: a) Maintaining all records in the care of the Vice President Academic, which shall be open to inspection by the Members of Rainbow Trinity; b) Working in conjugation with the Executive in planning, organizing, and executing events; c) Relaying all cheques he/she/they accumulate to the Treasurer; d) Adhering and promoting the objectives of Rainbow Trinity as specified in Section I.2. 2. The President s Duties shall be: a) To remain in active communication with the Bursar, Dean, and other Administrative officials when organizing Academic Events, Socials, and Movie Nights; b) To assist executive members as requested or needed; c) To assist the Treasurer as needed to create the semester s budget; d) To act as a social support system for marginalized orientations, gender identities, gender expressions, and/or intersex students; e) To remain informed about campus resources and refer students to said resources and/or the Dean when needed; f) To seek inclusive reforms within Trinity College; g) To present a report on Rainbow Trinity s activities for the academic year at the final executive meeting of Rainbow Trinity; h) To act as the Rainbow Trinity Representative for the Trinity College Board of Stewards; i) To act as a liaison to student groups and the queer community; j) To call Executive Meetings as needed. 3. The Vice President Social s Duties shall be:

a) To maintain Rainbow Trinity s social media; b) To create events on social media for Rainbow Trinity s Academic events, Socials, and Movie nights; c) To notify the Trinity College Head of Arts about a Rainbow Trinity event the week prior and ensure said event is advertised in Trin this Week ; d) To make suggestions with regards to potential Rainbow Trinity events, with a particular regard to Rainbow Trinity Socials and Movie Nights; e) To book appropriate meeting space as needed; f) To work with the Trinity College food service provider with regards to catering Rainbow Trinity events in conjugation with the President; 4. The Vice President Academic s Duties shall be: a) To take the place of the President at Executive meetings in his/her/their absence; b) To make suggestions with regards to potential Rainbow Trinity events, with a particular regard to Rainbow Trinity Academic Events; c) To organize Rainbow Trinity Academic Events in conjugation with the President; d) To supervise the keeping of the Rainbow Trinity s historical records; shall keep one set of all documents produced by Rainbow Trinity and deposit them to the College Archives at the end of his/her/their term. 5. The Treasurer s Duties shall be: a) To hold complete charge of the management of Rainbow Trinity s finances in accordance with the decisions of the Executive, subject to the Trinity College Fiscal Policy; b) To present a budget and financial statement at the beginning and end of each fiscal year respectively in conjugation with the President; c) To be responsible for submission of the budgetary documents as needed by the Auditor of the Trinity College Meeting for the Fall and Spring Audits; d) To jointly sign all financial transactions with the President. 6. The Duties of the Secretary shall be: a) To communicate the agenda of the Executive meeting to the Executive when applicable; b) To write down the minutes of every Rainbow Trinity Executive Meeting;

V. Changes of the Executive c) To communicate the minutes of the Executive meeting to the Executive promptly after the meeting; 1. All resignations from the Rainbow Trinity Executive shall be handed to the Secretary in writing. 2. If a mid year resignation or impeachment from the Rainbow Trinity Executive shall occur, the remaining executive shall appoint an active member of Rainbow Trinity as his/her/their replacement; a) If the Treasurer resigns from his/her/their post prior to the end of his/her/their term, the Vice President Academic shall succeed as the acting Treasurer until a new election is called by the TCM; b) If the President resigns from his/her/their post prior to the end of his/her/their term, the Vice President Academic shall succeed as the President Pro Tempore until a new election is called by the TCM; 3. If an Executive member is actively and deliberately opposing the Rainbow Trinity objectives (Section I.2) and/or engaging in discriminatory acts, the following steps shall occur : a) If said member of the Executive holds an elected position, the President shall give the person a notice that they have been in breach of their responsibilities and that an Executive vote will determine whether they shall be suspend from their position. This notice shall be in writing and the person shall be given at least a one week notice of the date of the Executive Meeting. The person in question shall have the opportunity to present their case at the Executive meeting. If by a simple majority the Executive determines the person in question is in breach of their responsibilities, he/she/they shall be suspended from the Executive until such times as impeachment procedures may be brought against her, him, or them, as outlined in the Trinity College Meeting Constitution, VIII A F; b) If said member of the Executive holds an unelected position, the President shall give the person in question a notice that they have been in breach of their responsibilities and that an Executive vote will determine whether they are to be removed from their position. This notice shall be in writing and the person shall be given at least a one week notice of the date of the Executive Meeting. The person in question shall have the opportunity to present their case at the Executive meeting. If by a simple majority the Executive determines the person in question is in

breach of their responsibilities, he/she/they shall be effectively removed from the Executive. c) The Executive may appoint any member on an interim basis to replace any member suspended in this way. VI. Presidential and Treasurer Election and Subsequent Appointments 1. The positions of President and Treasurer shall be elected under the auspices of the Trinity College Chief Returning Officer during the Spring election period of each year, as pursuant to the conditions listed below. 2. The President Elect and Treasurer Elect shall take Equity Training as instructed by the University of Toronto Sexual and Gender Diversity Office prior to the beginning of the next academic year. 3. The Rainbow Trinity Executive alongside the President Elect and Treasurer Elect shall appoint all other positions of the Executive for the following year through a written application process. VII. Rules of Order 1. At the discretion of the President the following shall be the Order of Business to be observed at the Executive Meetings of Rainbow Trinity: a) The Minutes of the previous meeting shall be read, and upon approval signed by the President; b) Business arising out of the Minutes; c) Communications received since the last meeting shall be read by the Secretary; d) Question Time; e) Notices of Motion; f) Transaction of other business. 2. The following shall be the Special Order of Business at the Final Executive Meeting: a) Minutes of the previous meeting shall be read and adopted; b) Communications received since the last meeting shall be read; c) Report of the Treasurer; d) Report of the President. 3. Meetings shall follow conventions as stipulated in Robert s Rules of Order unless otherwise outlined in this Constitution. VIII. Amending this Constitution

1. Amendments to this Constitution shall be passed by a 2/3 majority vote of the Executive and ratified by a simple majority vote of the Trinity College Board of Stewards. 2. Amendments to this Constitution shall come into effect upon their ratification by the Trinity College Meeting.
