AMERICAN SOCIETY OF PROFESSIONAL ESTIMATORS, QUAD CITIES CHAPTER 71 Volume November Program This month we are having the QCESC (Quad City Engineering & Science Council) speak at our monthly meeting. Jeffrey Richland is the QCESC president and he will be informing the members of ASPE on how the QCESC impacts and supports technical societies throughout the Quad Cities, which we happen to be a part of. The QCESC is in its 53rd year of operation and we will have an opportunity to learn more about this group. Join us for fellowship & find out more! Also, ASPE members are invited to attend QCESC s Presidents Reception. Box 4773 Davenport, Iowa 52808 President s Plug November 2014 NOVEMBER PRESIDENTS PLUG Giving thanks At this time of year, it is easy to think about all the things we have to be thankful for: the elections are over, the freedoms our veterans have fought for, fall harvest for farmers & Thanksgiving with our families. At ASPE Quad Cities, we are thankful to have an ac3 tive group of professional estimators and project managers. As we begin our fall pro3 grams, we urge you to bring a guest and attend. I am sure we all agree that professional development, ethics, and standards, such as the members within our organization model, will only benefit the construction industry. Happy Thanksgiving! John Blow, CPE President American Society of Professional Estimators Quad Cities Chapter #71

Page 3 This years ASM and Quad City Engineering & Science Council (QCESC) President's Reception and Hockey Night will be on Wednesday November 19th. We look forward to your attendance. This will be an exciting event for your members to attend. The reception will be held at Johnny s Steakhouse & iwireless Center in Moline (pre3registration required). You will have an opportunity to network with area professionals and meet our guest speaker Rob Day. Afterward, waddle on over to The Nest where you can watch the QC Mal3 lards take on the Tulsa Oilers from above the western corner (and Mallard s home end). While at the dinner, you can bid on this inaugural ECHL Mallard s autographed jersey during the silent auction. The jersey retails for $110, but the autographs on this item signed on 10/31/14 is a must have. The proceeds benefit ASM and QCESC efforts to promote STEM professional pursuits in the Quad Cities. (details and pre3registration info @ http://www.qcesc.org/hockey_night.html)

A LITTLE HELP PLEASE As part of the National ASPE Awards Program, we submit various items every year in order to accumu late enough points to earn the highest awards possible for our chapter. These achievements are recog nized at ASPE s National Convention. Many of these points are earned through membership, certifica tion, participation both within and outside the organization and from the contents of this newsletter. We ask that you please consider doing your part to help us be the best chapter that we can. Attending monthly meetings, enlisting a new member, becoming a CPE, or simply writing a technical article for the Bottom Line are all great and easy ways that you can make Quad City Chapter # 71 even better. Thank You. Did you know our chapter has a website? Chapter # 71 Website www.aspequadcities.org National Website www.aspenational.org
