FROM THE PRESIDENT Ron Thompson, NWRA President. Water is a bipartisan issue. Communities urban and rural, wealthy or poor, Republican or Democrat need access to a sustainable, clean water supply to grow and thrive. Sustainable supplies require a modern water delivery and treatment infrastructure that is well maintained and in line with the latest engineering standards. As the 115th Congress debates infrastructure renewal in the United States, members of the National Water Resources Association (NWRA) have been engaging their respective congressional representatives to ensure that water is part of any infrastructure package. The NWRA is a nonprofit federation of state associations, individuals, and agencies whose mission is to advocate federal policies, management, development, and beneficial uses of water resources that represent the interests of its members. Our top priorities include the rehabilitation and modernization of water supply infrastructure, the fair and reasonable implementation of our nation s environmental laws, and maximum funding of water projects and program needs on an agencywide basis. The NWRA has represented western water interests at the federal level for more than 80 years. Its roots date back to the 1890s prior to the establishment of the Bureau of Reclamation. The NWRA brings together agricultural, municipal, industrial, environmental, and recreational water interests to address water conservation, management, and development in the West. This document profiles the NWRA s member associations for Congress and key staff. NWRA members have a historic and vital story to share western water projects are woven into the fabric of our nation s history and its future. For more information about the NWRA, please call (202) 698 0693 or email us at nwra@nwra.org.
