Chapter 6 Page 1 of 5 SEIU ENDORSEMENTS In the, there are 31 Republicans and 19 Democrats. In the, there are 119 Republicans and 84 Democrats in the. Coupled with our Democratic Governor, Pennsylvanians are living in an era of divided government. Even though, there are only 6 uncontested races in the (out of 25), and only 91 in the (out of 203), there are enough contested races involving SEIU-endorsed pro-worker candidates (Democrat and Republican), to create real change in the General Assembly if we get the word out to friends, family members, co-workers, and neighbors to vote on Election Day. Through a process involving members and staff from all four Locals (SEIU Local 668, SEIU Healthcare PA, SEIU 32BJ and the Joint Board of Workers United), SEIU endorsed 12 candidates or incumbents for, and 104 candidates and incumbents for. Using this same process, we also endorsed 10 candidates for U.S. House and one for U.S. Senate, as well as candidates in each row office election. DON T YOU ONLY SUPPORT DEMOCRATS? Collectively, we endorsed a total of 111 Democrats and 5 Republicans for State office (Reps. DiGirolamo, Farry, Miccarelli, Murt, and O Neill). Democrats, whether incumbent or new candidate, did not earn our endorsement by default (as an example, we did not endorse Democratic incumbent Reps. Burns, Mahoney or Petrarca). Our process involved assessment of vote scores, endorsement questionnaires, prior working relationships, candidate interviews with members and staff, and other factors. If you are interested in becoming involved in the endorsement process in the future, please notify your Chapter Chair. HOLD LEGISLATORS ACCOUNTABLE Legislators marked as ANTI-UNION LEGISLATION SUPPORTER have sponsored or cosponsored one of the following paycheck deception bills: SB 500 (companion bill HB 1659) or SB 501 (companion bill HB 238); sponsored or co-sponsored SB650, which would make Pennsylvania a Right-to-Work State; or sponsored or co-sponsored the following the package of Right-to-Work bills known as the Pennsylvania Open Workforce Initiative (HB 1750 to 1755). Please hold these legislators accountable in November.
