Remarks by FL Kiwanis Foundation President-elect Designate: President-elect Designate Dave Liddell recapped his presentation from the House of Delegates and then went on to explain the difference between traditional grants and the new mini-grants. He encouraged everyone to make sure that the paperwork is done property when submitting a grant. It hurts everyone involved if a grant is denied simply because the right people didn t sign the application. President-elect Designate Liddell asked that each lieutenant governor invite the Foundation trustee to a club meeting with them to show unity between the two groups. He pledged the Foundation s continued support to our Service Leadership Programs and to Kiwanis and then closed by reminding us that our gifts are important so we can continue to help children not just in our local communities but around the world. Remarks from the Investment Committee: Investment Counselor, Terry Carr, could not be present due to a death in the family so the report was provided by Investment Committee Chair and Advisor, Bob Parton. Parton presented two charts reflecting activity for both the Honorary Lifetime Trustee (HLT) account and the Investment account. Both accounts work in parallel and both are outperforming their benchmarks. According to Parton, our investments are doing well and they are in good hands. Remarks by CKI and Key Club Governors: In keeping with the theme of the weekend, CKI District Governor Victor Roa and Key Club District Governor Trina Sessions gave their report as a team. They reminded us that Kiwanis provides them with the leadership opportunities that help them grow as individuals and that as a group, we are not just a family we are a Kiwanis family. Goals for Conferences and Conventions: Lt. Governor Cherry made a motion to establish the following goals for Conferences and Conventions in 2013-14. Lt. Governor Freiwald seconded the motion and it carried. a) 100 registered for Kiwanis International Convention in Tokyo-Chiba, Japan July 17-20, 2014 b) 1,000 registered for District Convention at the Trump National Doral in Miami, Florida August 7-10, 2014 c) 500 attending the Leadership Conference in Lakeland, FL February 1, 2014 d) 1,000 attending the Governor s Official Visits Remarks by International Board Counselor: International Trustee Jim Rochford advised the board that success is in your hands and it will be determined by how hard you work as a lieutenant governor. He suggested that when they return home they evaluate their clubs that are weak and call on the past lieutenant governors to act as counselors and mentors. He reminded us that membership and building new clubs is imperative and pledged all of his resources and his complete support to encourage the growth of the awesome Florida district. If we want to keep this district strong we have to show others what we have to offer Sunday, August 4, 2013 Page 5 of 6

and we have to grow. He closed by thanking the district for their hospitality and, again, reminded us that he is here to support us and guide us whenever and however we need his assistance.
