planting of bulbs at particular times of the year e.g. in the fall. Gray stated that this could be tied in with the schools, in a similar way to the Arbor Tree day event. Discussion focused on ideal spots for the blooms, annuals versus perennials; and the importance of having parameters because of the varying heights and states in between bloom. There was a consensus to bring it back as an agenda item in August. Bike Rodeo The idea of having a Bike Rodeo event was discussed. This would be headed up by the Police Department working in conjunction with Medina Elementary. It would help teach kids and parents about safety. Par course Board member Gray stated that she had received enquiries on the whereabouts of the balance beam. Chair Blazey stated that the equipment had been removed systematically. Christmas tree lighting ceremony Chair Blazey introduced the idea of having a tree lighting ceremony in December. The Board discussed how this could be managed in bad weather. It was agreed to keep the item on the agenda going forwards. Walkable Medina City Manager Sauerwein updated the Park Board on the recent community event. Chair Blazey gave some background on the Points Loop trail that would also require working with Clyde Hill to make it a reasonable walking path. A discussion ensued on moving forward with this piece of work. OTHER BUSINESS Park Projects update including Playground equipment/project. City Manager Sauerwein updated the Park Board on the recent discussions regarding the Playground expansion, notably that the playground expansion would be included as a 2017 budget amendment and the work would likely commence in the spring of 2017. Park board members expressed concern at the later timing and there was a consensus that it would make more sense both practically and financially to have the work carried out sooner. PARK REPORTS Board member McMullen stated that there was nothing significant to report but did enquire about the receptacle for dog waste. Chair Blazey reported that the tennis courts needed a replacement center strap. Chair Blazey stated that the Indian Trail looked great. Lake Lane had been worked on.
