LEGISLATIVE SENTIMENT Representative Roland Danny Martin of District #150 presented Superintendent Desjardins a Legislative Sentiment from the Senate and House of Representatives for her 42 years of service to rural education in MSAD #33 and for receiving the 2016 Commissioner s Award from the Maine Department of Education.

Greenhouse Proposal Moved by Melissa Paradis and seconded by Becky Pelletier to support the formation of an Agricultural Science Club, concept for the construction of a greenhouse (as presented by Nick Textor, science teacher, and dependent on receiving a grant(s) to build the greenhouse), and proposed location site (subject to fire safety codes and standards). Tri-District Strategic Planning Steering Committee Report Superintendent Desjardins reported out on the first committee meeting held September 29, 2016 at Community High School. By consensus, it was agreed to include a Tri-District Strategic Planning Steering Committee report on future Board agendas for Board discussion. Committee members from MSAD #33 include Supt. Desjardins, Principal Bernier, Aubrie Michaud (Board rep.), Kathy Theriault (teacher), Betsy Raymond (at-large community member/parent rep.), Danny Bechard (municipal rep.), and David Morse (SJVTC rep.).

Desjardins informed the Board that they could access minutes of meetings at sjvstratplan.blogspot.com or go to the District s website at msad33.org to connect to Strategic Planning Blog on the opening page. VII. PRINCIPALS & SUPERINTENDENT S REPORT Board members received in their packets reports from Principal Bernier, Principal Fantasia, and Superintendent Desjardins. Principal Fantasia spoke of the Wisdom Middle/High School Open House planned for Sunday, October 16, 2016 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. to tour renovations at the school and to view the repainted Pioneer mural in the gym by Steven Albert, artist of the original mural and former student. VIII. COMMITTEE REPORTS A. Finance Committee 1. Approval of the September Expenditure Report Moved by Melissa Paradis and seconded by Lana Cyr to approve the September expenditure report. Unanimous vote. Student rep vote: In favor. B. Facilities Committee 1. Update on Repairs at Wisdom Middle/High School Superintendent Desjardins and Principal Fantasia gave an update on the repairs at Wisdom Middle/High School. C. Negotiations Committee 1. Ratification of the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between the MSAD #33 Board of Directors and the MSAD #33 Education Association Support Staff Unit (Executive Session Recommended Tentative Agreement Between the Parties 1 M.R.S.A. 405(6)(D)) Moved by Lana Cyr and seconded by Becky Pelletier to go into executive session to discuss the ratification of the Collective Bargaining Agreement Between the MSAD #33 Board of Directors and the MSAD #33 Education Association Support Staff Unit, pursuant to 1 M.R.S.A. 405(6)(D). 5 Chairperson San Antonio declared the executive session over at 9:03 p.m. POST-EXECUTIVE SESSION ACTION Moved by Bernard Nadeau and seconded by Lana Cyr to table action to the November Board meeting. Unanimous vote. IX. OLD BUSINESS Director Nadeau asked about recognizing Dave Pelletier, bus driver, for achieving First Place in the Regional Skills Competition sponsored by the Maine Association for Pupil Transportation in Fort Kent for northern Maine bus drivers. Supt. Desjardins explained that Mr. Pelletier chose to not attend the State Skills Competition held at Sugarloaf in July, and that she presented Mr. Pelletier with a congratulatory note and gift certificate. Director Nadeau also questioned on whether or not the repairs to the chimney cap at Wisdom had been done. Principal Fantasia will look into it. X. OTHER None XI.
