PLAYBILL Volume 7, Issue 11 DAYLIGHT SAVINGS TIME ENDS. SET YOUR CLOCK BACK! Board of Directors Budget Meeting Thursday Nov. 19 6pm Club Room You should have received a copy of the proposed budgets in the mail. A Message From Your Manager All meetings of the association board are open meetings. Residents are encouraged to observe meetings and read approved minutes. Residents who wish to address the board are welcome to do so during the homeowner forum at the close of each board meeting. Here are a few tips for participating: 1. Put it in writing. You will get the best response if you put your question or opinions in writing prior to the meeting. This isn t mandatory, but it helps you and the board. Some issues may require a little research by the manager. Also, the board can serve you better if members have time to consider your concern. 2. Plan your remarks to last no longer than three minutes. Board members enjoy visiting with residents; however, the meeting agenda is always very full, and the time limit ensures that all business gets conducted. This doesn t mean big issues can t be presented. If your concern requires more time, please summarize it and the board will add it to the agenda for the next meeting. 3. Don t expect an immediate response. Board members don t act independently. All issues require discussion and sometimes a vote. Sometimes an immediate answer is possible, but it s just as likely that you won t get a response until after the meeting. FRIDAY NOV 13TH 5pm - 7pm Club Room B.Y.O.B. & a snack to share 4. If you need information, call the manager. The purpose of the Homeowner Forum is for residents to share opinions and concerns with the board. Residents seeking general information (like a status report on a project or the board s position on an issue) can get a more immediate answer from the manager. The proposed budget and reserve schedule was mailed out to all owners this week. If you have any questions or comments or would just like to sit down and go over it with me, just let me know and I will be happy to do so. I hope to see you at the Board of Directors Budget Meeting on November 19th. Thank you! Message From the Social Committee The Social Committee is again collecting money to give to our great staff of 12 people who do so much for us throughout the year. We will have envelopes in the 6 story mailroom in our staff gift basket. Please place your money in the envelope with your name on the outside and place in the Committees' Box found on the wall in the mailroom by December 12th. If you would like to mail your gift please make the check payable to Zada Pirollo (please not Broadway) and write Broadway Social Committee on the memo line. Mail to Zada Pirollo, 1064 N. Tamiami Trail, Unit 1333, Sarasota, FL., 34236 by December 12th. If you would like to leave a gift for Lorraine, our great mail lady, please leave it in your mailbox. Rules Rules and Regulations: Item 36, Trash. All trash, garbage and refuse from the Units shall be deposited with care in garbage containers or trash chutes intended for that purpose only at such times and in such manner as the Association will direct. Unit Owners must utilize the appropriate recycling systems provided by the Association, in accordance with the laws and ordinances of the City of Sarasota and/or the County of Sarasota. A mandatory trash hauling fee must be deposited, in an amount to be determined by the Board, in its sole and absolute discretion prior to any construction or remodeling of a Unit. Such Unit's trash hauling fee shall be used by the Association to defer any and all costs which may be incurred or associated with such construction or remodeling. Garbage and other refuse shall be placed in sealed garbage bags only in designated trash chute areas if they fit down the trash chute, otherwise, oversized trash bags must be deposited in the garbage containers. To avoid violation of noise regulations, use of garbage chutes is prohibited between the hours of 11:00 p.m. and 6:00 a.m. 2 Playbill November 2015

Nathan's Maintenance Tips Now that some of you have returned after an extended leave there are several things to be aware of: 1. Before using your dishwasher for the 1st time, pour a pot of boiling water inside. This will lubricate the motor after sitting for a period of time. 2. Be sure to turn on the water supply before turning on the hot water heater in your unit. This will help to avoid damage to the heater. 3. Replace smoke detector batteries every 6 months. A good reminder will be at the time change when you change your clock change the batteries. Welcome Back! Nathan Walsh, Maintenance Supervisor Thanksgiving Facts For Fun Thanksgiving is the reason for TV dinners! In 1953, Swanson had so much extra turkey (260 tons) that a salesman told them they should package it onto aluminum trays with other sides like sweet potatoes and the first TV dinner was born! How did the tradition of watching football on Thanksgiving start? The NFL started the Thanksgiving Classic games in 1920 and since then the Detroit Lions and the Dallas Cowboys have hosted games on Turkey Day. In 2006, a third game was added with different teams hosting. Happy Thanksgiving! 3 Playbill November 2015
