Present: Mark Storey, Paul Spencer and Garth Meyer. DIVISION UPDATES: 078527 16C. The following Public Works related issues discussed: Administration Division: 078527A 17. A copy of a letter extending the Weed spray contract with Darry-Air, Inc. through 12/31/17 was received from the Director. Mr. Storey noted he is considering the possibility of the county doing its own weed spraying in the future. Public Works does have capital funds to purchase the necessary equipment, but there is not enough time to get staff trained to required Professional Applicator standards by the time roadside 3

spraying is necessary. Therefore, Mr. Storey felt it best to extend the contract through 2017 to ensure weed control along our roads. 078527B 17A. The 2013 fuel contract with Busch Distributors was extended through 12/31/17 with the same terms, conditions and contract prices as the original agreement. This contract is for delivered fuel. The department also uses the card lock system for gasoline. Maintenance Division: D078527C 17B. The Director reported on snow/ice removal activities over the New Years weekend. The crews have had their challenges with damaged plow attachments, drifting snow and being short-handed in areas. As of now, they are pretty much on top of the snow removal. Solid Waste Division: D078527D 17C. The Board and Director discussed the many vacancies on the Solid Waste Advisory Board. David Nails has been attending city council meetings and requesting participation. They would like to see at least one-half the vacancies filled. Mr. Storey explained every five (5) years the county is required by the Department of Ecology (DOE) to update its Solid Waste Plan. In so doing, they are advertising for consultant services as part of that process. The most significant change is the new transfer station. Mr. Nails is in the process of revising the current operations plan. D078527E 18. Approved documents signed. 10:45 a.m. Recess.
