Background The Friends of Education Award recognizes organizations in the community who have made a special contribution to education in Alberta. Criteria This service must be documented and most importantly, be provincial in character. The major criterion for the Friends of Education Award is a significant contribution to education in Alberta. Nominees should be demonstrably committed to the improvement of education for Alberta students. Procedural Guidelines Nominations for the Friends of Education Award are by board motion. Boards may nominate an organization outside their own jurisdiction. The Board of Directors will review the nomination forms and may conduct selection interviews. This award may not be made to an organization in conjunction with another ASBA award. No more than two Friends of Education Awards shall be conferred in one year. Awards Presentation An ASBA Friends of Education brass school bell will be presented by the President of the Alberta School Boards Association to the recipient(s) at the ASBA Fall General Meeting. All nominees who meet the criteria will receive a certificate acknowledging their nomination. These certificates will be presented by the President of the Alberta School Boards Association at the ASBA Fall General Meeting. 2 P age

Nomination Form Alberta School Boards Association Nomination forms must be completed and received by the ASBA on or before September 23, 2016 to be considered. A board may not nominate more than one candidate for a Friends of Education Award. Boards may nominate an organization outside their own jurisdiction. Please include either a photograph or logo of the organization with the nomination package in electronic format (e.g. jpeg).
