PENNS MANOR AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION MINUTES OF MEETING OF SEPTEMBER 11, 2014 The regular meeting of the Penns Manor Area School Board of Education of September 11, 2014 was called to order by President, Robert Packer at 7:05 p.m. On roll call the following members were present:,,,,, and. Mrs. Eckenrode and were excused. The following administrators were present: Mr. Johnston, Mrs. Dolges, Mr. Grimaldi, and Mrs. Zeglen. Mr. Kudlawiec was excused. Mrs. Patterson was present as Assistant Board secretary. Mr. Ronald Saffron, Esquire was also present. Curriculum Committee -, Spokesperson Senior Class Advisor Motion by, seconded by, to hire Leanne Thome as a Senior Class Advisor effective immediately at the contracted rate of $1,312.74 as per the current expired Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Penns Manor Area School District and the Penns Manor Education Association. On roll call the following members voted: Signing Citations Motion by, seconded by, to authorize the following administrators of the district to sign citations in conjunction with the School Tobacco and Compulsory School Attendance Acts: Mrs. Michelle Dolges, Mr. David Grimaldi, Mr. Daren Johnston and Mrs. Kristen Zeglen. On roll call the following members voted: Out-of-State Field Trip FFA Motion by seconded by, to approve/disapprove the Penns Manor Area FFA along with advisor Gerald Hughes, to attend the National FFA Convention in Louisville, KY from October 27, 2014 through November 1, 2014. The cost to the District would be $1,035.00. On roll call the following members voted: Mentors Motion by, seconded by, to approve the following teachers as mentors for the recently hired teachers listed below as per the induction program of the district for compensatory time. Senior Class Advisor Motion by, seconded by, to hire Kristin Kessler as a Senior Class Advisor effective immediately at the contracted rate of $1,312.74 as per the current expired Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Penns Manor Area School District and the Penns Manor Education Association. Budget & Finance Committee -, Spokesperson Affirm Budgetary Transfers - enclosure 6 Motion by, seconded by, to affirm the budgetary transfers for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2014, as listed in enclosure 6. On roll call the following members voted: Insurance Proposal Motion by, seconded by, to accept and approve the school insurance proposal from Liberty Mutual as presented by Walbeck Insurance. The commercial liability package shall include coverage for Property, Inland Marine, Automobile, General Liability, School Leaders Errors and Omissions, Crime and Excess Liability. The effective date of this insurance coverage will be October 1, 2014, with an expiration date of October 1, 2015. The total premium for the insurance proposal is $50,877 and payment of said premium is hereby approved. Buildings & Grounds Committee, Spokesperson Vo Ag/Maintenance Roof Replacement Motion by, seconded by, to accept the quote from L&L Roofing in the amount of $8,909.00, being the lowest quote received by the District, to replace the roof on the VoAg/Maintenance building as presented in the quote. Athletics Committee -, Spokesperson Jr. High Volleyball Assistant Coach 2 Resignation Motion by, seconded by, to accept the resignation of Adelle Dolney as the Girls Jr. High Volleyball Assistant Coach 2, effective immediately; and to grant the Administration permission to post and advertise, if necessary, for this position. On roll call the following members voted: Jr. High Volleyball Assistant Coach 1 Motion by, seconded by, to hire Christina Young as the Jr. High Volleyball Assistant Coach 1 commencing immediately. All clearances are currently on file in the district office. The salary for this position is $2,130.66 as per the current expired Collective Bargaining Agreement between the Penns Manor Area School District and the Penns Manor Education Association.
