HISTORY EXPLORE LANDSCAPES OF THE HUMAN PAST

HISTORY PROGRAM UNDERSTAND THE PAST PREPARE FOR THE FUTURE STUDYING HISTORY AT HURON CULTIVATES EMPATHY, BRINGS PRECISION AND ENERGY TO YOUR WRITING, AND CONNECTS YOU TO PROFESSIONAL NETWORKS. IT PREPARES LEADERS WITH HEART FOR CRITICAL AND ENGAGED CITIZENSHIP. IN A WORLD ROCKED BY QUESTIONS ABOUT TRUTH, EVIDENCE, AND THE NATURE OF HUMAN UNDERSTANDING, HISTORY MATTERS. Delve into the living connections between historical study and current global debates, such as the modern anti-slavery movement, the struggle for gender equality, indigenous issues and the nature of democracy, law and individual freedoms. Our dynamic programs offer unparalleled opportunities for hands-on archival research, digital scholarship, research travel, local and global partnerships, and collaboration with faculty. EMILY ABBOTT YEAR 4, HISTORY AND POLITICAL SCIENCE HUCSC member Studied in France for a semester Awarded CURL research fellowship Hometown: Toronto, Ont. I have always been a history buff. My curiosity about lesser-known events and perspectives and my desire to explore the complexities of the past led me to the history program at Huron. History is quite interdisciplinary, so studying it was a way for me to learn about a variety of subjects. We engaged with diverse assignments; from planning a museum exhibit to conducting archival research on local history. I also knew I wanted to attend grad school, so I was looking for a program that would help me develop my research and writing skills, so History at Huron was the perfect fit.
