WATTSBURG AREA SCHOOL DISTRICT BOARD OF EDUCATION November 19, The Regular Board Meeting of the Wattsburg Area School District Board of Education was held on November 19, at the Wattsburg Middle School. President Joseph Walko called the meeting to order at 7:30 p.m. The following members were in attendance: Mr. Eric Duda, Mr. Kerry Duncan, Mr. Bruce McCall, Mrs. Nancy McNally, Mr. John Rzepka, Mr. Aaron Snippert, Mr. Ed Snippert, Mr. Ken Watkins, and Mr. Joseph Walko. Also in attendance were Mrs. Nancy Sadaly, Superintendent; Mr. Thomas Rinke, Assistant Superintendent; and Mr. Stephen Maksimuk, Business Administrator. The following revisions were made to the agenda: Addition of the October Curriculum Meeting notes to agenda Removal of C-1 St. Thomas School band performance request Addendum adding the Marching Band Disney Trip Motion by Mr. Rzepka, seconded by Mr. A. Snippert to approve the agenda and addendum with the above revisions. Motion carried. Motion by Mr. Duncan, seconded by Mr. Rzepka to accept the notes from the November 12, Curriculum meeting, the November 12, Work Session minutes and the October 15, Regular Board meeting. Motion carried. Being that no visitors wished to address the board, Mrs. Sadaly gave the Superintendent s Report with a rundown of the items to be covered at the meeting. Mr. Maksimuk noted cash in the bank in the amount of $6,935,582.56 as of October 31, and cash in the Capital Reserve in the amount of $3,884,007.95.Mr. Maksimuk noted for the period ending 9.30. a cafeteria loss in the amount of $6,801.05. Mr. Maksimuk also reported the amount of the General Fund Bills (Exhibit A) to be $101,601.03; General Fund Bills, Checks Already Written (Exhibit A1) to be $1,713,566.49; General Fund Bills, (Exhibit A2) to be $134,824.16; Cafeteria Bills, (Exhibit B) to be $40,145.84; Mr. Maksimuk also noted cash in the SHS Activity Fund (Exhibit D) to be $60,825.10 and cash in the Special Revenue Report (Athletics) (Exhibit E) to be $7,416.56. Motion by Mr. Duda, seconded by Mrs. McNally to approve the Business Administrator s Report as presented. Motion by Mr. Duda, seconded by Mr. Watkins to approve the following resolution: Be it resolved that the Wattsburg Area School District will indemnify Kerry Duncan for any personal liability incurred as a result of his voting at the Northwest Tri-County Intermediate Unit in accordance with the direction of the Wattsburg Area School District Board. Motion by Mr. Duncan, seconded by Mr. Rzepka to approve the following building utilization requests o WAMS gymnasium by the Wattsburg Wrestling Club November 1, through March 1, 2013, 5:30 7:30 p.m. to hold practice. No cost to the District. o WAMS cafeteria dining room by the Wattsburg Wrestling Club December 6, and January 8, 2013, 6:00 p.m. for meetings. No cost to the District. o WAMS/WAEC gymnasium Mondays and Thursdays November 19, through May 2013 from 7:00-9:00 p.m. for Men s Adult Basketball. No cost to the District. o WASD Gymnasiums and football field November 26, through February 28, 2013 for Pole Vault Training by Lake Erie Track & Field. Days and times to be determined. Funds to be paid by the Marching Band Boosters. In a recorded roll call vote, the following members voted Yes : Mrs. McNally, Mr. Rzepka, Mr. A. Snippert, Mr. E. Snippert, Mr. Watkins, Mr. Duda, Mr. Duncan, Mr. McCall, and Mr. Walko. Motion carried. During the principal s report, the principals and MerriBeth Knappenberger presented the Board a review of the PSSA data and how WASD scored on the PSSA s. They also shared the areas in which they need to improve in and their strategies and focus in areas to implement changes for student improvement. Mr. Schultz shared safety concerns with the bus plugs-in. Our service at present time is not adequate to support our fleet usage. We have limited plugs which are hard-wired and overloading the circuits, which is a safety hazard. We would need about 30 outlets to service our bus fleet. Mr. Schultz has also gather quotes from 4 companies to have this service updated. B-N-T Electric would put in a new service, with new plugs and GFI s breakers for a cost of $9,669.58. That cost is almost half of the other quotes he received. This company installed the service to Fort LeBoeuf School District Motion by Mr. Duncan, second by Mr. Watkins to accept the bid of B-N-T Electric to install poles, outlets, GFI s and heat cords at a cost of $9,668.58.
