Introduction Since its establishment, Asbar Center for Studies, Research and Communications has been striving to consolidate the methodological consulting values and scientific research to keep pace with the progress of the KSA. At the same time, it emphasizes the importance of knowledge, keeping abreast of the information and communication achievements, and the diversification of media. Center s areas of work include: Strategic Studies Research and Opinion Polls Media and Information Consultations Media and Information Campaigns Organization of Conferences and Events Integrated Marketing Communication Periodicals Documentation Lexicons and Encyclopedias These levels reflect how Asbar Center. Is careful to make available the specialized information and scientific opinions that depend on various scientific researches and activities. 2 3

Establishment Asbar Center was established in 1414 AH, corresponding to 1994 AD, in response to the scientific research need and in line with the methodological consulting system, to inform the (political, economic and social) decision-maker who can then rely on a solid, balanced ground. Center s Objectives Mission To contribute to development of the community and optimization of decision-making efficiency in its institutions, and to help them design the development-related policies by providing systematic consulting services, conducting scientific studies and opinion surveys, and organizing different campaigns and events. Providing consulting, information and scientific services to decision makers in the private and governmental institutions; Highlighting how the importance of scientific research as the most effective way for decisionmaking support; Strengthening the relationship with segments and bodies; of the community. Arabic Network for Opinion Surveys In dedication of the Center s research efforts and outstanding role, it was elected as a member on the Board of Trustees of the Arab Network for Public Opinion Surveys. The Board of Trustees includes (7) research centers out of (70) competing centers from various Arab countries. Then, the Center was elected as a member on the Executive Committee that manages the Network. Center s Achievements These strategies have been prepared by approximately one hundred specialized researchers and assistant researchers, except technicians, statisticians and data collectors. The scientific authority in the Center supervised its process. - These strategies include: The GCC Media Strategy (for ten years from 2010 to 2020). This strategy was endorsed in the Gulf Information Ministers Meeting held in Kuwait 05/11/2010, the Council of Foreign Ministers, and then the Gulf Summit in Abu Dhabi in December 2010. National Strategy for «Culture of the Generation» from (2015-2030). Asbar Center was assigned to prepare the National Strategy for «Culture of the Generation». It is a strategy that addresses important national issues, such as: citizenship, national identity, cultural identity, national unity, ideological extremism, interaction with the world, and the culture of work and production. This national super project is supervised by a ministerial committee of (15) Ministries and government bodies concerned with the youth. This strategy is one of the most important strategies developed for the youth. Nearly 200 experts, researchers and academics participated in this effort. Strategy of Saudi Arabia s future relationship with Yemen in the light of the current geopolitical challenges and escalating Huthi influence: This study aimed to explore the Huthi issue in its background and developments, and in its regional context, while identifying how it is affected by Yemen-KSA relations, internal situations in the Kingdom and the Saudi vital interests. Media Policy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: In 2012, Asbar was requested to rebuilt the media policy for the Kingdom to keep pace with the latest changes, new trends of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, based on the recommendation of Shura Seminars of the Major Workshop for the National Strategy for Culture of the Generation 16 17

Council in 2010 to develop a modern media policy for the Kingdom. Asbar Centre was assigned to reformulate, develop and update the media policy to be part of the general policy of the State. Asbar Prepared the Media Strategy for the Gulf Cooperation Council and was Approved By the GCC Summit in Abu Dhabi, 2010 Asbar Center for Studies, Research, and Communications is the consultant agency for decision support at the Ministry of Culture and Information in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The Center provides in this field media consultations and proposals in the various issues and topics related to the activities of the Ministry, in addition to providing recommendations in order to achieve the strategic goals of the Ministry. 18 19 Media Consultations Positions of Saudi writers and publications towards the war on Iraq. Social Research Study: of Saudi Youth: Concerns, Problems and Aspirations. Uses of Internet in Saudi society. The extent to which tourism events meet the youth s requirements. The extent of neediness to consume drugs by male and female students of secondary schools in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. (The Center designed a scientific benchmark to measure the neediness to consume drugs by the male and female students of secondary schools in the Kingdom. It was adopted and registered under the name of «Asbar»). Economic Research A study on oil price components paid by the end consumer in the United States of America, Britain, France, Germany, Spain, Brazil and China. Trends of traders on the Saudi Stock Market and their expectations towards the market. Economic Feasibility Study for Saheel Magazine. Follow-up Studies Documentary Studies Level of Extremism in Saudi Society. (The Center designed a scientific benchmark to measure the level of extremism. It was adopted and registered under the name of «Asbar»). Public Assessment of the performance of the Ministry of Culture and Media and its Institutions. Regular follow-up studies on the public views about Okaz Newspaper (its topics, features, writers, and position among other competing newspapers). The Latest Issuance of the Center: Saudi Arabia: Earth, Men and Culture, A Book prepared by More than 30 24 Researchers 25 The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia: «Land, People, Civilization», published in Arabic and English. The French issue is being prepared. This Book reliably depicts the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as a people, land, and culture through the balanced presentation of documented information and creative image. It conveys the aesthetic aspects of nature, geography, cultural heritage, and civilization traditions.

The book contains nearly 800 colored pictures, making its reading an enjoyable knowledge tourism, and drawing a realistic picture of the great heritage of traditions and original Arab lifestyles instilling the spirit of struggle in the Saudi man, in order to build a modern life. A team of 9 photographers carried out the task of photography. Other photos were procured from different people and bodies. The book also contains more than 30 tables, 40 charts, and 6 detailed maps of the Kingdom. The book relied on the specialized scientific preparation. Each of its subjects was written by a specialized professor to ensure the accuracy and objectivity. Such a teamwork has required the participation of 30 specialized researchers and authors. The Painters Garden: this book was issued in two languages: English and French and it is published in cooperation with Arabies Trends in France. Brides of the Desert: in three languages, Arabic, English and French. Book: The March of Saudi Information: the book is published in three languages, Arabic, English and French. Asbar s Encyclopedia for Islamic Sharia Scholars and Specialists in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia was published in three volumes.
