Kennedy Elementary Auditorium Pursuant to A.R.S.38-431.02, notice is hereby given to members of the Superior Unified School District #15 Governing Board and to the general public that the Board will hold a meeting that is open to the public on the above listed date and time. The Board reserves the right to change the order of items on the agenda. Pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.04, one or more Board members may attend the meeting telephonically. Pursuant to A.R.S. 38-431.03 (A)(3), the Board may vote to move into executive session for discussion or consultation for legal advice with it attorney(s), on any matter listed on the agenda. The attorney may appear in person or by telephonic conference call. CALL TO THE PUBLIC Arizona s Open Meeting Law provides that all persons desiring to attend a school district governing board meeting shall be permitted to attend, listen and record the deliberations and proceedings. That law does not specifically provide the right to address the Governing Board. Page 1 of 5
The Board President may exercise prerogatives to allow comments on any agenda item. Individuals wishing to address the Governing Board on an agenda item or during Call to the Public may be asked to fill out a speaker s form and submit it to the President prior to the agenda item, or Call to the Public. Groups wishing to address the Governing Board should designate a spokesperson to represent them. All members of the group wishing to present similar comments may be asked to limit the number of speakers and register their agreement in writing without speaking. Opposing groups should follow the same requirements for speaking. Debates between groups are not permitted and there may not be an allowance for rebuttal of another presentation. All persons desiring to address the Governing Board must be recognized by the Board President. Before speaking, the individual must state their name and address. If representing a group, the speaker must identify the group. The Board President may limit duration of comments. Specific problems, complaints, or concerns regarding personnel must be addressed through the provisions of the Public Complaint Policy. At the end of the Call to the Public, members of the Governing Board may respond to criticism, ask staff to review a matter, or ask that a matter brought up during Call to the Public be put on a future agenda. The Open Meeting Law does not permit the Governing Board to take action on or discuss any non-agenda item.
