Moundsville West Virginia The Marshall County Board of Education met in regular session Tuesday,, 6:00 p.m., at the Board of Education Offices, all members having been notified of business to be considered. Present were: President Thomas E. Gilbert, Jr., Vice President John Miller, Members Lori E. Kestner, Dr. Duane Miller, Christie Robison; Secretary Michael Hince, Members of the County Administrative Staff. Howard O Cull, WVSBA Executive Director, reviewed with the Board processes that may be used in the Superintendent selection. Dr. O Cull said a Superintendent must be appointed by June 1, 2017. He explained how other Boards have approached the process. It can be as simple as taking applications and interviewing or can involve community and employees in the search process. Minutes of the Regular Session, April 11, 2017, Reconvened Session, April 18, 2017, and Workshop Session, April 18, 2017, were approved on motion by Mrs. Kestner, and seconded by Vice President Miller. Motion carried. President Gilbert announced for the Board to go into executive session to discuss personnel. Motion by Dr. Miller, and seconded by Mrs. Kestner that the Board go into executive session. Motion carried. Motion by Vice President Miller, and seconded by Dr. Miller, that the Board come out of executive session and return to regular session. Motion carried. Motion by Dr. Miller, seconded by Ms. Robison and motion carried, that the Board approve the following personnel items A, B, C, and E as recommended by the Superintendent: A. Amy Ritz was recognized by the Board for being named the 2017 Middle School Mathematics Teacher of the year from the WVCTM and receiving Golden Holtan WVCTM Award. Virginia Dewitt was recognized as Service Personnel of the Year. The Board recognized Marshall County Schools 2018 Teacher of the Year Nominees. The Board recognized John Marshall High School Teacher, Tammy DeWitt, as Marshall County Schools 2018 Teacher of the Year. Motion by Mrs. Kestner, and seconded by Dr. Miller, that the Board approve the 2017-18 School Calendar. Motion carried. Motion by Mrs. Kestner, and seconded by Dr. Miller, that the Board approve the Budget Revisions FY17. Motion carried. Motion by Dr. Miller, and seconded by Mrs. Kestner, that the Board give permission to seek bids for roof at Gateway Achievement building. Motion carried. Motion by Mrs. Kestner, seconded by Dr. Miller and motion carried, that the Board approve the following professional meetings: Rhonda Williams to attend WV Statewide Technology Conference, July 16-20, 2017, Morgantown, WV, with expenses paid by CTE Funds. Marlena Sell to attend WVEA Delegate Assembly, April 28-30, 2017, Charleston, WV, with time and expenses paid by General Funds. Roger Cain to attend PGC/Glazier Basketball Coach Clinic, April 27-30, 2017, Atlantic City, NJ, with time only paid by General Funds.
