CITY OF BOISE To: Mayor and Council FROM: Mike O Dell, Airport Deputy Director ORDINANCE or RESOLUTION NUMBER: O-36-08 DATE: 5/13/08 SUBJECT: Operation Modification to Section 12-19-10 C. and D. Taxicab Parking Area ACTION REQUIRED: Modify ordinance to increase the number of taxicabs allowed in the airport loading area from 9 to 11 and add a provision that enables the airport management to provide will call spaces. RECOMMENDATION: Staff recommends Council adopt the proposed changes to the ordinance as proposed to increase the number of taxicabs allowed in the airport loading area from 9 to 11 and add a provision that enables the airport management to provide will call spaces. FISCAL IMPACT/BUDGET IMPLICATIONS: None. BACKGROUND: The current language in the ordinance restricts the number of taxicabs in the airport ground transportation lane to a maximum of 9. This is a carryover from when we were in the old terminal facility as the taxi lane only had 9 spaces. The current lane has adequate space for 11 taxis in the designated area plus we have added 2 will-call spaces to accommodate travelers who have made advance reservations with a cab company. The modifications requested will make the number of spaces physically available and the City ordinance which governs airport taxi operations so they are consistent. ATTACHMENTS: None
