Mayor Doty explained that this re-appointment is to the ex-officio position. W. S EVERETT ADDRESSED THE COUNCIL CONCERNING THE VETERANS WALL OF HONOR. Mr. Everett spoke about relocating some of the Veterans memorial plaques from the Courthouse to the Veterans Wall of Honor. Mr. Everett talked about relocating one of the veterans memorial plaque from the Courthouse to that same park where the Veterans Wall of Honor is located and mounting it on a monument. Mr. Everett stated that the labor cost for relocating the first plaques would be donated while funds would need to be raised for the monument. Mr. Everett said he plans to approach the local chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution (DAR) to see whether its members would be interested in helping with that, but he was not asking the City for financial assistance. Everett had provided a sketch of the proposed new locations to the Council Members showing the new placements on the Veterans Wall including moving the Beula C. Nunn plaque higher and covering the art mural at one side of the wall. Councilman Witcher stated that he believes the matter should be addressed with the Veterans Wall of Honor Committee before the Council approves anything. Mayor Doty asked Mr. Everett to discuss this the DAR and then come to the Council with the recommendations of the committee.
