The Worthington Board of Education met for a Regular Meeting on the 8th day of October, 2018, at 7:30 p.m., at the Worthington Education Center. Mrs. Keegan called the meeting to order with roll call: Mrs. Best Mrs. Hudson Mrs. Keegan Mr. Shim Mr. Wilson The meeting began with introductions, the call to order and the pledge of allegiance. 18-169 Mrs. Hudson moved the adoption of a resolution whereby the agenda be approved for the regular Board of Education meeting. Mrs. Best seconded the motion. B-1-a Visitor Comments There were no visitor comments. INFORMATION AND PROPOSALS B-1-b Board/Committee Reports, Announcements and Updates Mrs. Hudson attended Dr. Steven Guy s Dyslexia ation. She said it was a full house and a great ation. Mrs. Keegan echoed the large attendance at the Dyslexia lecture. She also praised the Thomas Worthington High School band s performance at the OSU Skull Session on Saturday as impressive and fun. She called out how appreciative the Board members are to receive invitations to attend events such as that one. She also mentioned that the TWHS homecoming is this coming weekend. Dr. Bowers mentioned that the parade for homecoming is traveling north on Evening Street this year to avoid challenges on SR161 during rush hour.

ACTIONS RECOMMENDED BY THE TREASURER 18-170 Mr. Shim moved the adoption of a resolution whereby the minutes of the September 10, 2018 regular meeting be approved, as indicated in Enclosure C-1-a. Mrs. Hudson seconded the motion. Mrs. Hudson, Mrs. Keegan, Mr. Shim, Mr. Wilson Mrs. Best abstained as she was absent from the previous meeting. 18-171 Mr. Wilson moved the adoption of a resolution whereby the following appropriation transfers (modifications) be authorized, as ed by the Treasurer. 18-174 Mr. Wilson moved the adoption of a resolution: to approve the continued enrollment of Owen Heath, whose legal guardians have moved from the Worthington School District. Owen is currently enrolled at Worthington Kilbourne High School. Because his family moved out of the Worthington School District, he would like to complete his senior year in Worthington Schools and graduate with the class of 2019. According to the Ohio Revised Code, 3313.64(F), Any child under the age of twenty-two whose parent has moved out of the school district after commencement of classes in the child s senior year of high school is entitled, subject to the approval of the district board, to attend school in the district in which the child attended at the time of the parental move for the remainder of the school year and for one additional semester or equivalent term. Furthermore, BOE policy states that the student must have attended at least four semesters in Worthington Schools and have achieved at least junior status. This student meets these requirements. This is the third such request this school year. Mrs. Hudson seconded the motion. 18-175 Mrs. Best moved the adoption of a resolution: Authorizing the purchase of competitive retail natural gas service from the lowest responsible bid submitted to META Solutions for the period commencing July 2020 and termination no later than June 2025. See Enclosure C-3-c. Mr. Shim seconded the motion.

ACTIONS RECOMMENDED BY THE BOARD OF EDUCATION 18-176 Mrs. Hudson moved the adoption of the resolution: to terminate the employment of a certified employee. See Enclosure D-1-a Mr. Shim seconded the motion. VISITOR COMMENTS E Visitor Comments There were no visitor comments REQUESTS / QUESTIONS / CONCERNS FROM THE BOARD Mrs. Keegan pointed out that this meeting is the last one with the current public comments process. Mr. Wilson would like to see the current comments process continue. It was decided that the Board will discuss the public comments sections at the next Board of Education meeting. 18-177 Mr. Shim moved for adjournment, there being no further business to come before the Board. Mrs. Hudson seconded the motion. Motion passed
