More women into more jobs in the City New Horizons Community Connect in the City Homelessness Connect: Homelessness, Health and Housing Expo 2016-2018 Developing long term sustainable city living To support the continued delivery of the Sagarmatha Women's Centre which is a recovery orientated model that promotes health and wellness, provides both an education and employment pathways and support as well as therapeutic interventions that build women's confidence and esteem and ability to engage with the community. The New Horizons project provides city based programs for people aged 16-24 years who are experiencing disadvantage with the aim of reconnecting people and forging pathways back into community life, education and employment. The Community Connect in the City program helps to create a positive profile for The Terrace and other 'high impact' sites. The aims are to improve behaviour and encourage positive social interaction and increase social skills and confidence among the residents. An annual Homeless Connect-Homelessness, Health & Housing Expo in Whitmore Square. The Expo is a community event aimed at people who are homeless and at risk of homelessness and operates under the Homeless Connect banner, an initiative of the Council of Capital City Lord Mayors (CCCLM). Approximately 45 services attend the Expo providing information and advice on health, housing and homelessness issues to up to 700 people which not only reduces homelessness but also improves the overall wellbeing on those experiencing homeless or at risk of homelessness. The program is focused on people experiencing disadvantage with the aim of assisting them to re-engage in City life and community activities. It builds on previous work by increasing the level and amount of activities as the City grows. The project will also facilitate expansion of hours and numbers at the Moore Craft shop including a new project called Moore Crafts Comes to You. $40,000 pa $35,000 pa for 3 years $30,000 pa $25,000 pa $30,000 pa

Creating Pathways through Community Engagement A Place to call home Spirit Festival Mobile Assistance Patrol Sampler SA NAIDOC Week Activities Community reintegration for disconnected city residents The Hutt St Centre employ a Community Engagement Officer as part of the Adult Community Education Program to engage with and mentor homeless and vulnerable adults accessing HSC services and community programs in the inner city of Adelaide. The program provides orientation, linkages and engagement for new refugee and asylum seekers with services, education, recreation, cultural, social supports and initiatives and economic opportunities through business enterprise in the CBD and through its facilities in King William Street and Coglin Street offices. The AMRC engages this vulnerable group of new settlers with the City of Adelaide which is a Refugee Welcoming City. Spirit Festival showcases the breadth and diversity of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contemporary and traditional performing and visual arts. It provides the opportunity for cultural development and pride through creating a positive platform for education and awareness for the wider community. The Mobile Assistance Patrol (MAP) is a unique essential service offered by the Aboriginal Sobriety Group providing transport to Aboriginal and non- Aboriginal people under the influence of alcohol or other substances from public places to places of care, safety and support. The Sampler Workshops supports digital arts literacy by artists with disability (including deafness). The programming of workshops aims to empower artists to journey from new users of digital art making technology to lead creators, explorers and trainers of digital art practice. The SA NAIDOC Week activities take part in the first full week of July each year to celebrate the achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people and their communities. The SA NAIDOC Committee organises and hosts the 4 major NAIDOC state events in SA annually: the SA NAIDOC Awards, The March from Victoria/Tarndanyangga Square, the Family Fun Day and the NAIDOC Ball. This program aims to re-integrate and reconnect disconnected, marginalised and isolated individuals living within the Adelaide Central Business District with the broader Adelaide City Community. The aim of the event is to contribute to achieving a stronger, more inclusive and connected local community in the city. The multicultural event is aimed at building bridges between the multicultural Muslim communities and the wider Australian community. A one-day festival of food, culture and music. The event looks to continue to honour the members of the Stolen Generations and their families, provide further opportunities for healing in the Aboriginal community and inform the non-aboriginal community of the continuing impact of the Stolen Generations. The 2017 NAKKO NAKKONDI TUTTO BANDIAPPENDI (Looking) Wodlianni Stolen Generations Annual Sorry Day celebrates the 1997 tabling of the National Bringing Them Home Report in Federal Parliament. The event promotes awareness and education through song, music, dance and performance to acknowledge the pain and hurt suffered by Aboriginal children who were removed from their families. The event acknowledges and celebrates the coming home of the Stolen Generations. A suite of events associated with the National Reconciliation Week 2017. The events look to highlight the significance of reconciliation across the city while providing opportunities for learning and healing in togetherness with the Aboriginal community and the non-aboriginal community. The event looks to raise awareness of Aboriginal children's overrepresentation in state care and to promote the active participation of people living and working in the Adelaide CBD to educate themselves about the systemic and structural issues that have led to disharmony in Aboriginal families and communities and the subsequent removal of children that continues to be a trend nationwide. "Have Tea with a Refugee" event is in Refugee Week at the Multicultural Youth SA s city office. The Don Dunstan Foundation The Don Dunstan Film Club The Don Dunstan Film Club are hosting 4 film events in 2017/18 financial year at the Mercury and Palace Nova Cinemas. The events will target people with a lived experience of mental Illness and homelessness and other local community members, with the aim of providing the opportunity for the two groups to connect. A minimum of 40% of tickets set aside for free distribution to people with a lived experience of mental illness or homelessness. The program provides a one day workshop that connects young women to City services and prepares them for the workforce for the first time. The workshop aims to build youth engagement in the city and build selfconfidence and empower young women, giving them the skills to be active participants in the community. HYPA SA (Helping Young People Achieve) Guinness World record event in Light Square on October 27 aims to connect with disadvantaged youth in the City and supporting them to live successfully and independently. 'Social Headquarters' is a pilot initiative of GOGO Events which delivers a one-off networking event for 20 social entrepreneurs at the Bonython Park Kiosk with the aim for the group to become sustainable into the future. A core component of the launch event is also to deliver an employment outcome for 5 people at risk of homelessness through their partnership with the Hutt St Centre. The MARRNet s two community film events based on the documentary Freedom Stories are hosted during Refugee Week. Techfugees Australia Multicultural Communities of SA (MCCSA) Justice for Refugees SA Techfugees Adelaide Hackathon Refugee week Q and A community session Refugee Week Screening of Freedom Stories Techfugees is a global program initiated in the United Kingdom and has been adopted as the Tech community s response to making a positive difference to the lives of refugees and asylum seekers in their own communities. Techfugees Adelaide Hackathon is a 3-day event that brings together approximately 100 developers, designers, entrepreneurs, refugee organisations, refugees and community members to develop creative technology solutions that will assist refugee families settle into the Adelaide community. MCCSA s free community event coincides with Refugee Week at Council's Minor Works building. The event is aimed at bringing together people from refugee backgrounds with people from non-refugee backgrounds in a Q and A style event to raise awareness of the journeys of refugees and their positive stories since settlement. Justice for Refugees SA film event screening of 'Freedom Stories' at the Mercury Cinema as part of Refugee Week. The event is aimed at fostering connections between people, sharing information and ideas and promoting diversity within the community.
