Rotary Club of Morialta Inc. District 9520 P.O. Box 121 ATHELSTONE SA 5076 Secretary - Judi Brown Email morialta@rotaryclub.org.au Website www.morialta.rotaryclub.org.au THE COG - RCM Meeting 1607 Bulletin 23 November 2016 President s News PRESIDENT S NEWS Another week has come and gone and from all reports, last week s meeting (#1606) went well and those present were entertained by former Morialta Rotarian Brian Sarre who addressed the Club. I wish to say thank you to Past President Marian Jennings who acted as President for the meeting in my absence. Of course the big event for the week was the annual Breakfast in the Park held on Sunday 20th November 2016 and what a great morning it was. At the time of this report going to press the final figures had not been calculated but I am certain that the fundraising outcome will be very good. Once again the commitment of the Morialta Rotarians has to be acknowledged, not just for the effort on Sunday but also for the period leading up to the event. This includes those involved with the overall planning of the event, the negotiation, purchase and preparation of the food and drinks for the day, the cleaning and collection of the tables and chairs on Saturday morning, the organizing of the raffle and of course everybody s effort on the day. We should all be very proud of how this event transpired. I received a number of complimentary comments from guests at the breakfast. Well done to The Rotary Club of Morialta again. This week s meeting will be held at our usual venue The Rezz Hotel. The speaker this week will be Thomas Roocke, the Club s chosen candidate for the National Youth Science Forum to be held in Canberra in January 2107. You will recall that Thomas was originally due to address the Club at the meeting on the night of the state wide blackout but of course that presentation had to be cancelled. The Club s next major event will be the visit by District Governor Sam Camporeale on Wednesday 30th November 2106. As this a Partner s night, the meeting will be held in The Bistro room of The Rezz Hotel. Prior to the meeting the Board members will meet the District Governor at the Community Workshop at 4.30 pm. PHOTOS Guest speaker - Brian Sarre Jeweller Two club Stalwarts heading last weeks Meeting BREAKFAST IN THE PARK 20/11/2016 We have not finalised the figures for the BIP fund raising function as yet but the preliminary figures indicate about 190 tickets sold with expected net income to be about $3,000. These figures are the least important feature of the BIP function. The most important feature (in my opinion) is the effort, the organisation and the desire to do a good job by every participating member. I cannot be more proud of my membership of our Rotary Club. I will not mention names to thank. I witnessed every participating member, partner and friend pushing themselves to the maximum of their ability to set up, serve and clear up. We had a successful day and we all should be proud of our effort. Having said that, please get ready for the next MLM and Carol in the park (Friday 2 December and Sunday 4 December respectively). The Raffle raised $745 thanks to everyone. Adel Abdelhamid Fund Raising Director Page 4
