A Sabre initiative to end human trafficking

The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing. Edmund Burke

What is human trafficking? Human trafficking is a form of modern-day slavery where perpetrators profit from the control and exploitation of others. Force, fraud and coercion are used to control people in every instance of human trafficking. That control is used to induce someone into commercial sex acts, labor or services. This compelled service is a lucrative activity and is why human trafficking is considered to be one of the fastest growing criminal industries in the world. 1-888-3737-888 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year

Why does Sabre focus on human trafficking? The travel industry is unwittingly used by the perpetrators of human trafficking. Our network of travelers, travel agencies, suppliers and employees are in unique positions to be the eyes and ears for organizations that are helping victims and working to end human trafficking. Our goals are to educate our stakeholders about human trafficking and advocate for solutions. Through collaboration with travel industry partners, non-profit organizations and government agencies, we can help make our world a better place to live.

How big is the human slavery marketplace? TWENTY-ONE MILLION people are currently enslaved globally, and represent $32 billion in annual revenue for the criminals behind the trading-in-persons pandemic. FIFTY-FIVE PERCENT of the enslaved are women and children. These are the main categories of human trafficking: Sex Trafficking Examples Adult and Child Prostitution, Massage Parlors, Pornography, Online Chat and Strip Club Dancing Forced and Bonded Labor Examples Agriculture, Construction, Landscaping, and Manufacturing Hospitality Services, Janitorial, Health and Elder Care, and Hair and Nails Salons Involuntary Domestic Servitude (e.g., Nannies, Maids, Servants) Panhandling, Door-to-Door Sales, Traveling Carnivals Child Soldiering 1-888-3737-888 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year

How to Recognize It A person who has been trafficked may: Show signs that their movement is controlled. Have few or no personal possessions. Have no control of their travel documents or identification papers. Have false identity or travel documents. Have someone speak for them, or a third party insists on being present and translating. Not know their home or work address. Be unaware of their whereabouts, have lost a sense of time. Have numerous inconsistencies in their story. Have no access to their earnings. Be unable to negotiate working conditions. Work excessively long hours over long periods. Have limited or no social interaction. Have limited contact with their families or with people outside of their immediate environment. Think that they are bonded by debt.
